We get a lot of students who have health issues that prevent them from physically making it to school on a regular basis.
I had a couple of students like that last semester. They had a homeschool teacher, a teacher from our school who went to their house every day and worked with them on their assignments from their regular classroom teachers. Then, when they could come to school, they knew what we were doing in class and could slip right in to school for however long they could.
I had one student who came to school about 2 days per week but kept up on all her assignments at home with the homeschool teacher. I had another who came about 1 day per week on average. Same deal with him.
Seconding 4-H. I raised a house plant for 4-H one year. Wasn't very good at it, but I did it.
I'd like to do at least one of our bathrooms in some of that '70s wallpaper. Except Hubs would kill me.
Gud, I can say from second-hand experience that home schooling multiple grade levels is tough. Our ex-next door neighbor has 5 kids (16, 14, 12, 10 and 8 now) and she home schooled for 2 years due to the worries your wife stated. She said that it was beyond stressful for her. First she didn't have any teaching experience so the 7th grade subjects were difficult, plus splitting her time to teach 5 different grade levels was taxing. Getting the kids to all sit down and listen was next to impossible (she was pretty lax on discipline anyway) and the kids needed more socialization that she was able to give them and still meet all the requirements for home schooling even attending church functions twice a week. It also blurred the lines between teacher and parent and didn't give them any time apart (they were together 24/7). Also? Her son was the one that gave my daughter the 411 on sex. Yeah, my daughter who attended the public school that he would have gone to (same grade even). No she didn't hear it at school, she got it from the home schooled kid. OTH, it worked really well for a couple of the kids, as they could go beyond grade level. I wish you all very much luck.
I think they still do drug awareness at the elementary school level in our school district, my kids came away from it being very stern about smoking and taking even OTC drugs.. I think I got "mom, are you taking *gasp* drugs????" for Tylenol... sheesh!
I think that paper would be perfect for the spaceship.

I really don't remember getting any anti-drug education in (public) elementary or (all-girls Catholic) high school. It's possible that all the drugs I did in college have erased those memories though.
