"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Friday question (mostly for the ladies): When was the last time you wore hose (pantyhose, stockings, whatever you prefer)?

I think I wore fishnets when I dressed up for something in the winter. Maybe regular seamed stockings with one of the Halloween costumes. Spring and summer in Texas = nothing on my legs except for the occasional jeans.

ETA: Today's Daily Puppy keels me ded! I love big honkin' baby dogs. [link]

It's supposedly going to be hotter than the surface of the sun in a sauna today.

I love air conditioning.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Speaking of - how wrong is this? Wrong - or very wrong?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Very wrong.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Friday question (mostly for the ladies): When was the last time you wore hose (pantyhose, stockings, whatever you prefer)? I wear opaque tights all the time in the winter, but I can't think of the last time I wore hose. I know I wore 'em to a wedding in Richmond VA in October 2002 - but I don't think since. Do big-city professionals wear them to work any more (Jesse, bon bon, Vortex)?

I am not wearing hose today, but that’s because it’s Friday and I’m wearing a long flowy skirt. I don’t wear hose with pants if I’m wearing flats in the summer because it makes my feet sweat. If I am wearing a skirt suit, (2-3 times a week) I wear hose. I work at a University, so it’s a more casual environment. I mostly do it because upper management wears suits and I want to give that impression.

It struck me this morning how not one single word coming out of this administration is credible anymore. There is nothing I don't immediately discount and start looking for the angle.

For me personally, that’s been one of this administration’s greatest crimes – making me distrust my government. I HATE that. I should be able to rely on them to take care of me and my country. Not only do I not believe that they are doing that, I believe that they are hurting the country. *sigh*

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Agreed about the lack of trust with the administration-- Ari Fleischer's great "innovation" of straight-up lying to the press corps seems to have had some blowback. Speaking of WH press tools, there's a great article in The New Republic about David Gregory, here: [link] Since registration is required, the upshot is that he is kind of a blowhard, but the kind of blowhard that would noisily talk back to the WH when he gets screwed over.

MyCatHatesYou reminded me of this [link] which actually made Mr. Jane come running in the room to figure out what that godawful noise was.

Art Crawl!!!

I almost never wear regular pantyhose. I wear tights (usually black) when it's cool enough. The last time was day before yesterday. (We're having really odd weather this Spring.)

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Last few times I had to wear hoes I went with nude colored fishnets. A little retro, a lot more comfy, no runs.

Big Apple Barbecue Block Party!!!!!! I'm friends with one of the crews and worked it last year (Ubon's, actually, I may have pulled the plate of pork in that picture). Sooooooooo looking forward to this weekend. When you work the thing? The other crews bring you their 'cue too.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I love David Gregory when he freaks out like that. Although my favorite White House reporter moment was Terry Moran on ABC News -- some big announcement had been made, I think about the war, I think not by the President, and he was reporting live from outside the White House at about 10pm. Peter Jennings was like, "Has there been any reaction from the President?" and Terry just kind of turned his head and said, "Well, it looks like all the lights are off in the Residence....." I do enjoy some bitchiness.
