I've worn them on interviews in the past year and to weddings, but I don't think I've worn them to work since I was at a university in NJ.

I wore stockings semi-regularly in the transition weather between tights and bare legs, but I don't usually have to wear them, so I don't! I think the last time was actually in May for an event.

Do big-city professionals wear them to work any more (Jesse, bon bon, Vortex)?
Wearing them today, wore them yesterday, wore them on Tuesday. That's fairly frequent for me. But if I'm seeing a client or going to court (or a deposition, something like that), I wear a suit, and all my suits are skirt suits (pants suits are just too complicated to fit and maintain). So a couple times a month. If I'm just wearing a skirt to work in warm weather, it's bare-legged.

There are advantages to hose, as I see it-- I generally don't have to have shaved legs, and my lack of tan is less noticeable.

In a related matter, is there any rule of thumb on how long hair must be before it's waxable? I mean, like for a salon-type job? I could buy a package of do-it-yourself stuff, but it might be nice to have somebody else worry about what to do with the icky used wax, et cetera.

My main problem with nylons isn't the wearing, it's the maintenance -- if they don't run, they have to be hand-washed, etc.
