There are advantages to hose, as I see it-- I generally don't have to have shaved legs, and my lack of tan is less noticeable.

This is key for me, as is the fact that I have some noticeable scars on my legs still.

I do think, wrt the cooking, that S2 shot themselves in the foot making Ilan cook the duck course. Not that Elia has ever made a decision for the good of the team in her life, but she really should have given him the scallops and taken the duck herself. She's trained in French cuisine, we know she can cook poultry. So that was just dumb on their part.

I'd forgotten just how freaking whiny Dave is. Dude, if you want to cook with local flavors, make a case for it! If you don't even bother to say "I think the idea of sticking to one cuisine is a good one, but since we're in Miami, let's go with a Latin/Carribean theme instead," you don't get to spend the rest of the challenge bitching and moaning about how you were forced to cook outside of your comfort zone and work with flavors you don't normally use. Cry me a fucking river.

I haven't shaved my legs since fall 2005, either - I don't in the winter, and then last summer I gave myself a bye because of the whole immensely pregnant thing, and now I am lazy. I like the feeling of shaved legs - I just don't like the shaving. (And wax? Hells no.) For a blonde, I am pretty hairy, actually.

Theo, I have heard that half an inch is the amount of leg hair they want to wax at a salon. Though you could call 'em.

It depends on the salon, IME. I've never been able to do a very good job with the at-home kits, personally -- keeping the wax hot enough is always tricky, and there are parts of my legs I just can't reach as easily as someone else can. (I've also realized, unfortunately, that my leg hair grows back way too fast to make waxing worth it, because I do love the feeling. But even in the land of cheap salons, I can't afford to have it done as often as I'd need to.)

It has to be pretty long, I think. Which is why every winter/spring I toy with the idea of waxing to start the season, but then I can never go through with it.

I'm an intermittent shaver. Never over the winter, and maybe once every 4-6 weeks in the summer. It helps to be blond.
