Would any of you NOT work at a place because it had a dress code? What would be the breaking point in strictness?

Hah! Yes. But then, I bet I could argue that my eccentric wardrobe falls in line with any company dress code, because I doubt many companys have no petticoats or hats already written into the dress code. My shoes are close-toed, I don't wear t-shirts, and I always wear skirts and some manner of hosiery.

I do wish the women who insist on strappy tanks and low rise jeans would at least wear a size that fits (instead of 2 sizes too small).

I wouldn't work at a place that demanded hose or skirts for women. As was said, that hints at other issues as well.

Unless there are businesses whose dress codes prohibit attire that is "excessively awesome."

I'd be reluctant to work at a job where I had to wear a tie every day.

I did computer support at a bank for a little bit (thankfully not for too long). Many a tie was shredded by circuit boards.

While we have no dress code, the big boss has a thing about people wearing shorts and always sends out a reminder about this time for people nto to wear them. Some people still do.

Clothing runs the gamut in out office (there are about 400 people) from power suits to sweatshirts and jeans, but mostly we're business casual. It seems to depend on the position and the division you are in.

Would any of you NOT work at a place because it had a dress code? What would be the breaking point in strictness?

Long-sleeve shirts. I could deal with business casual (and do, whenever meeting with clients), or even dress pants/shoes and short sleeve dress shirts. But if you require long sleeves and ties you obviously don't need my services that badly.

My office is pretty casual if we don't have clients scheduled to drop by. I wear jeans and button shirts, but some folks go as casual as a sweats or shorts (which I don't feel comfortable in unless it's a weekend, in which case they should just be thankful I'm not in my underwear).
