Tara: What's so bad about them coming here? Aren't they good guys? I mean, Watchers, that's just like whole other Gileses, right? Buffy: Yes! They're scary and horrible!

Spike's Bitches 36: Did I Sully Our Good Name?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I just read parts of some of those blogs. The oddest thing is the mix of sensible and then that added twist. For example, it is very sensible to talk to you kids about what you are doing - like if you are making soup yo talk about chopping the veggies, heating the oil sauting the veggies - adding liquid --- they learn about cooking, they learn about process. I never thought about teaching multi tasking, but it makes sense. But I think the boys need to learn this too. and the thought that an 8 yr old can do a large number of chores on there own and even 'run a household seem a bit twisted to me.

raising boys

and this is the raising girls

[link]

from the same person -

from reading the two I get some of the ideas that susan was talking about - some how the boys are the link to the world outside the domestic.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Has some big Spam dude got released from prison within the last few weeks. I'm seeing a HUGE spike in SPAM to all my e-mails.

Secondly, there was the post about the poll. How does this work? Seemed like they were wanting feedback on it. Is there a time/link when it's time to take the poll? Or do we copy the poll in and e-mail or something. (this is what I get for lurking for so long)

See, I agree that boys need to be let out to do stuff that burns off their energy, being hard work or simply running their minds out or playing baseball or something. I think a lot of ADHD is simply engines that can't shift up to that extra gear and use all the power they've got.

But there's nothing inherently noble/spiritual/Christain about it.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

And contrasting the two stories makes me sick. Boys get to dream and experiment. Girls need to learn to be happy multitasking homemakers.

I didn't have the guts to click on the Feminism link. Brrr.

Dammit, if she wants to live on a farm and raise lots of kids and do the Waltons thing, more power to her! Just don't tell me that I should be doing it too.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Just to be clear -- it's not the number of kids that freak me out about the Duggars

What freaks me out is looking at the ages of the kids and then calculating that she's been pregnant almost continuously for 17 years.

I can't even fathom that.
