Spike's Bitches 36: Did I Sully Our Good Name?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

See, I agree that boys need to be let out to do stuff that burns off their energy, being hard work or simply running their minds out or playing baseball or something. I think a lot of ADHD is simply engines that can't shift up to that extra gear and use all the power they've got.

But there's nothing inherently noble/spiritual/Christain about it.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

And contrasting the two stories makes me sick. Boys get to dream and experiment. Girls need to learn to be happy multitasking homemakers.

I didn't have the guts to click on the Feminism link. Brrr.

Dammit, if she wants to live on a farm and raise lots of kids and do the Waltons thing, more power to her! Just don't tell me that I should be doing it too.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Just to be clear -- it's not the number of kids that freak me out about the Duggars

What freaks me out is looking at the ages of the kids and then calculating that she's been pregnant almost continuously for 17 years.

I can't even fathom that.

Our wings are not tired.

omnis, I haven't had any spike in spam. Same number of drug and mortgage offers. Maybe there is a change in the filter setup.

On the poll thing, what can I say, we like the talking, polling, voting thing. If you are feeling brave read the last billion posts in lightbulbs and beauracrazy. (still think we should have named it don't worry nobody can spell it)

Really. Between 2 pregnancies and nursing for a few years I was sleep deprived for about 5 years and nearly lost my mind. 17 years of sleep dep, yikes.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

It is the contrast that makes it hard to swallow. I grew up in house with all girl children. So it never occurred to me that a girl wouldn't learn about mowing the lawn, or a boy wouldn't learn to cook. Or that there were any limits on what I could do

All is well that ends in pizza.

I grew up in a house of mostly boys, and I learned the same things.

Mom and dad wanted all of us to have a basic skill set for life, no matter what we did.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have a spike in stupid spam, and it's breaking my Bayesian filter--I haven't had this many false positives since I installed the damned thing.

Most of the spam (that it's not catching) is very obvious to the human eye: invest smart-166837278 or account-4545540494, and no text in the body, just a PDF-extension attachment.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Omnis: right now they are talking about the wording of the poll. Once the wording is settled on then the polling of the actual poll will be announced.
