[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

My job is being made worse today by the people who are planning (dis)orientation for the students. My message yesterday said we could have all the time we needed on the morning of the 15th. Today I emailed that we wanted 1.5 hours and thanks. I got an angry phone call back that we'd only been scheduled for an hour at 9:30 a.m. and we'd need to come back at 8:15 p.m. for the night students.

Er? The first and last slots of the day? And did I mention that the 15th is a university holiday so whoever does come in has to do this on a day off?

Our wings are not tired

In the past 10 minutes I've watched Spongebob and Patrick Star play air guitar and then dance a tango.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

~ma for all the Minneapolis peeps, them what belong to Buffistas and them what don't.

I can't even hear about that story anymore without feeling I'm about to cry.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

I weep at SpongeBob and Patrick tango-ing, too.

It's beautiful, man.

Now the next time I drive over the Bay Bridge I'm gonna be all freaked out, man.

Sorry! I can still drive it but it is scary to me.

One of the things that has surprised me is how unfriendly-seeming the yoga teachers are and how few alternative-prep poses they offer for those of us that can't always get into the full pose. Also, I don't understand how people learn anything in some classes I went to -- the teacher just stands there and calls out a pose but never gives any hint as to how to enter it, proper positioning, etc., in case anyone is having trouble

Ack! Wish you were a bit closer and then you could go to my super awesome yoga school of awesome teachers (tm). What kind of yoga were you taking where the teachers weren't demo-ing at all? Was it Bikram? Becauase I know that's a Bikram thing and it's one of the (many!) things about Bikram that I hate.

Not Bikram. I've been trying Astanga/Vinyasa/Ansura kinds of places. I had a really wonderful teacher in Berkeley, and I miss her. Sniff.

super awesome yoga school of awesome teachers (tm).

Send info, please! Maybe I can take a workshop or something with them every once in a while to renew my faith in awesome.

Insent, Sparky!

It's this place:

There's 2 locations--one midtownish (near the train station) and one down here in Fells Pt.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

FTR, I hate the (Bay Area) Bay Bridge. Now that I have wheels (OMG, I have wheels!), I'm figuring out what routes to take to avoid the thing. NO BRIDGES!

vw, much ~ma to your friend.

Yeah, I used to run under the bridge all the time. It's a very pretty route. Argh. OH! Oh, no. Also, there's a huge homeless encampment in that area during the summer. Oh, fuck.

However, the one I was most worried about - Carl - checked in. I think my people are in the clear.

My friend Sara did a seven-day water fast last month, and she raved about the benefits.

FWIW, my mother, who's been a phys. ed. instructor and a Weight Watchers leader and is just generally All Up In That, despises those fasts as absolutely unhealthy in the long term. So, I don't know.

Trust my rage

re: the bridge

I listen to Minnesota Public Radio a lot because it's my home. I turned it on at 5:30 this morning and heard them talking about a bridge that collapsed. Thankfully, before I realized which bridge, I got an email from my mom that all our family in MN are safe.

Still, like I posted in my LJ, I used to drive over that bridge all the time when I lived there and just thinking about it gives me "Ellie trapped in her carseat underwater" anxiety thoughts.
