I paid full price, but the part of that went to our local volunteer education foundation. They also had folks at the release party collecting any added donations for the foundation.
I'm ok with that.
Early ,'Objects In Space'
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I was 207th on thhe hold list at my library when I went ahead and bought it.
Every copy at the library is on hold or checked out. They have more on order though.
Our library system has a thing called Hot Picks where they have popular books available for seven-day checkout; the catch is you can't place a hold on them. So I got a copy Saturday morning.

I wonder what they do with the extras. Like, they don't really need to keep three bazillion copies in regular rotation, once the rush is over.
I asked once, they get books on loan and they have special label on them, then after the rush is over they are sent some place else so the library isn't stocked with too many copies of whatever.
Figures someone here would actually know !
Well they all had this strange label on it and I couldn't decipher it so I asked.

also, they are often donated to schools or sold at book sales. Which I always feel funny about 'cause then it looks like I stole the book from the library :)
There is a huge power outtage in SF - blown transformer - 30K without power. Some on the web are attributing the lj outtage to this issue - but I would think they would have some kind of backup on the servers - right?

Apparently not. They're down, craigslist is down.
