Spike's Bitches 36: Did I Sully Our Good Name?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
a playground accident. I'd never have the courage to be a mom; I'd be terrified all the time.
Years and years ago, K-Bug was in a summer program with the local Parks & Rec program. I got a call at work that she "fell off a playground structure, was bleeding from the head, and 911 had been called. Would I please meet them at the hospital". PANIC. I zoomed out of the office, drove straight to the hospital, a mere 10 minutes from work. I beat the ambulance there - which freaked me out even more. I mean, that meant she was so bad off they couldn't transport her - right?
Well, she was fine, the ambulance pulled up and she hopped out of the back, under her own power, just holding gauze to her head. Cause of the delay - the park person who came with her had stepped in dog poo and had to clean her shoe before they took off for the hospital. Three stitches later, she was fine.
That was about 10 years ago. I still remember the panic during that drive to the hospital. Much ~ma to Matt's boss's family.
The wife of a friend of mine's baby died of SIDS while in day-care. I worry enough about emergencies as a hs teacher, but little babies? NO WAY. Too scary.
I gave the Heimlich to a teeny 9th grader who was choking on a life-saver, and I thought I was gonna break her in half. I was freaked.
Happy Birthday, Zenkitty!
I've decided I hate asthma.
I'm so with you on this, beth. Not breathing sucks. I am so thankful for asthma drugs, at least.
I've been kind of lurky, lately. Much ~ma and glitter to all who need it!
Birthday Happies Zenkitty!!!
I am finally caught up in Bitches.
Happy Birthday, Zenkitty!
Beth, so sorry to hear about the little girls, both the one hurt and the one who witnessed the hurt. Much ~ma to them both.
In meme news, argh. I just missed my train due to a late start this afternoon and 10 minutes wasted driving through a five-story and completely full parking garage. I can catch the 6:57 train, but that puts me into Grand Central after dark. I don't mind NYC after dark, but I prefer to not have luggage and not be alone when navigating the subway to a hotel I've never stayed in before. Argh. I may just break down and catch a cab, but I hate spending the money.
On the upside, I see ND tonight and new Alter baby tomorrow. YAY!
Happy Birthday, Zenkitty!
I was getting sick of having spaghetti every night for dinner, but didn't really have much actual food on hand. I ended up throwing together some scrambled tofu with peppers and tomatoes. Pretty good, though I still haven't figured out how to get the spice blend perfect. Also, it would look a little nicer if I used red peppers instead of yellow, but I only had yellow. The tomatoes give it a bit of color, though.
Got to say, the weather has been gorgeous since I got here. I'm sitting outside on the train platform at 6:30PM, and it's sunny, breezy and beautiful. Nice of the weather gods to give me a break from the brutal heat for this trip.
Hil, the food sounds yum.
The weather does sound nice. It's been pretty nice here today, too.
I also made corn muffins. Theme of tonight's dinner seems to be vaguely southwestern breakfast foods.
Now I'm on the train. Six giggly college-aged girls, all dressed up, have decided to sit all around me. Joy. I've already had to take pictures for them. On two cameras.
Oh dear. More information has surfaced.
It's a bachelorette party. They're all in their early to mid-twenties and they're chattering happily about dresses and hair and honeymoons. Gods do I feel jaded right now. Not old, exactly, but infinitely tired.
Sorry. I'll try to keep my meloncholy off the boards.
