Spike's Bitches 36: Did I Sully Our Good Name?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Well, chalk another one up to my MiL's cluelessness in not thinking about her actions.

This local news [link] channel is doing a "Vote 4 the Best" thingie among the suburbs and whatnot of Detroit. A couple of Ypsilanti locations were nominated and so she sent out a couple of mass emails to people asking for votes.

This, in and of itself, is fine. What's NOT fine, is that she SENT THEM TO MY BOSS.

Now, Boss was fine. But she doesn't know that he would be fine with it. For all she knew, he could have been mightily pissed off by the spam - with her last name on it, which is my last name and easily linked to me. Which, it was. "Who's MiL?" he asked me. If heas a giant jackhole, I could have been fired or something.

I ask, W.T.F.?

Joe and I aren't alone in thinking this was HIGHLY inappropriate, right?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I won't go near Play-Doh because of the smell.

See, I *love* the way Play-Doh smells. Love love love.

But I *don't* want fragrance that's supposed to smell like sandalwood and amber (for instance) turn to Play-Doh on me. Which WAY too many fragrances do, including everything BPAL makes.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

It's definitely annoying... I think it wouldn't really reflect on you though, just on her spamming ways. How'd she get the email address anyway?

ION, I'm a little nervous about my lodging plans for this weekend and I don't know if I'm being overly anal or not. I made plans to visit DC for a family thing and to see/stay with a friend from college. This friend said sure, come visit, no problem, and we'll pick you up from the airport. I called her and left a voicemail on Sunday just checking in, and didn't hear back... and I sent an email yesterday with a slightly more inquisitive tone as to whether everything was all set with us coming/staying/getting airport pickup. I haven't heard anything back from that either.

I made a hotel reservation before plans with C. were settled and have hung on to it because I'm nervous there will be a flakeout. But I need to cancel the thing today, and I would just like some final confirmation.

Am I being overly paranoid and anal? Should I just trust that C will be at BWI on Friday night? (I sent her flight info about a month or so ago) Should I try to get in touch with her by phone today? Bah. I don't want to hound her if everything's on her radar.

brillig

I am filled with gronk and actual pain today.

Tuesday I had to go in for the second half of my root canal--the first part took longer than he had scheduled so he made me come back. The crown is going be a third appointment. After the first appointment, I felt terrific. Yesterday, nearly 24 hours after the procedure, I woke up to such skull crushing pain that I had to call in sick because I knew I wouldn't be able to cope with that pain without something out of Hubby's "Please show us your ID" prescription horde, and no way was I leaving the house under the influence of synthetic morphine.

We're into 48 hours since the procedure and I'm functioning on OTP pain killers. But dammit, if he did something screwy that means I'm going to have to go back in there and have him dig all that out--or pull the tooth . . .

I am not a happy woman.

how'd she get boss' email? If she ganked it off something you'd sent her, then yes.

Nora, I'm emailing you my cell phone number. If you get to BWI, and don't find your friend, I'll come get you and you can stay with me.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Old people just do not "get" the SPAM.

Well, certain people. My Mother and Aunts. They think its just GREAT to send a prayer for the soldiers or dubious paranoid medical information or warnings on how I should be careful getting into the car at the mall to a couple of hundred people at a shot (many of whom cheerfully "reply all" with some inane comment) and simply do not understand when I object to this.

I honestly don't know how she got it. She probably just looked it up or something. If she had sent it other business owners in Ypsi, I wouldn't be as irritated, but she didn't. It was all friends of hers.

Our wings are not tired.

Ah yes, the emails with pages upon pages of email addresses. At least it was for something legit enough and not promises of $ from Microsoft. @@

AmyLiz! As a summer thing and being closer to you than usual I purchased Room Service before I headed north. Now this is not at all my usual genre, but the last time I tried this type of fiction was probably over 30 years ago, so I am keeping an open mind. I am looking forward to thinking of you as I get to know your characters. One sister and my niece love romance, my other sister reads gory serial murder stuff, the rest of us a bit of variety. From the lovely reviews I read it promises to be a pleasant diversion and again with the warm feelings when I think of where the words originated. So be pleased to know you have led me astray and be prepared to autograph it for me when I see you!

Now tagless for your comfort.

Tell your MiL to take that guy's email address out of her address book, stat, Aimee.

My sister got some of the professional photo proofs from her wedding. Note how I resisted the tanning decree. Best picture of me and DH eva! I should have gotten my teeth whitened.
