You know, I've saved lives. Dozens. Maybe hundreds. I reattached a girl's leg. Her whole leg. She named her hamster after me. I got a hamster. He drops a box of money, he gets a town.

Spike's Bitches 36: Did I Sully Our Good Name?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

Rocky and Freya will play in their carriers as long as they're just sitting on the floor, but as soon as there's any indication of impending movement, whoooooosh.

Although, when I brought them home from my friends' place after the avalanche scare, they were much more amenable. I think it might have been something about being locked in a room for three days with strange cats yowling at them through the door.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I thought I'd seen GetHuman posted here before but here is it again just in case shipping. Here's hoping you don't need to call them anymore anyway, Hil.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Man, my mother managed to drive me to escapism in exactly four hours since I walked into the house. That has to be a record of some kind. Only that woman can simultaneously make me happy to be home *and* wish I was back on another continent on the same time.
Ah, family. Yes. I've had that feeling. A lot.

~ma for your friend, lib.

I know after all of the sparkler smoke and such, my chest reminded me yesterday that, "Yes, Cass, there is asthma and while you new meds are indeed nifty, there are limits." There was something strangely comforting about having a day where I really noticed it because that means that most days are so so so so much better now.

My critters are happy to be home and glad to have the evil carrier put away. Kittenish, with all of her medical and then having to be boarded issues in the past year, is much better about it now. Puppycat is still a little shellshocked. I think. Hard to tell with her.

And then, of course, I overslept. So no belly dance for me today after all.

You lazy slug.

What are people doing this weekend?

Back from Emmett's second All-Star game. We're in Sectionals now, trying to make it to District, then Regionals then State (I think that's the order). Anyway, we're 2-0 so far.

This game was close, 3-3 in the fifth. Then we loaded the bases and Emmett hit a huge double over the centerfielder's head. Then we broke it open and won 12-3. Emmett had one of his best days at the plate this summer, going 3-4 with two doubles and three RBIs. And his one out was a line out to the third baseman.

Now I go off and write.

So far today, I cleaned my kitchen (well, made it a bit less messy), took a nap, and set up my new Tivo. (This is Tivo number 3. Tivo number 1 developed hard drive clicky sounds and stopped working after about two and a half years, and Tivo number 2 got the same problem after about two months. Here's hoping Tivo number 3 lasts a little bit longer.)

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Spent the whole day so far moving into my new (alas smaller) office at work, where I am right now. Tonight we'll be going with a friend and his two kids to see Ratatouille. Tomorrow, laundry and more daydreaming/researching/planning about the house. My current obsession: paint colors. The DH is colorblind, so other than checking to see if the colors look off to his feaky rods and cones, it's pretty much all me. White for the trim--but WHICH white? Yellow in the living room for sure, but do I go with a sunny yellow or a creamy one, or maybe something more butterscotch, which fits the period of the house? Ooh, I love colors.

domestic rehabilitation - Which means I have a huge list of chores that needs to be done. It won't all get done- but I told DH that we will not be removing the carpet in the hall if the house isn't clean by next weekend

But we have a birthday party tonight and an early morning brunch tomorrow
