Spike's Bitches 36: Did I Sully Our Good Name?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

It did get the biggest squeals . Our area of town has lots of old trees and low power lines - and I guess there was one balloon disaster. Where we are the whole town needs to be shut down fo rthe parade - I was laughing at/ feeling sorry for my neighbors that had bagpipes warming up in front of their house. . Plus there was a giant pirate ship on a huge flatbed. I guess this is a group that does a haunted pirate ship every halloween. It was very cool

The Mauritania culture (if it is as described in the article) sounds as bad as ours. women are pushed as hard to fat in their culture as to be skinny in ours.

I have to admit a little bit of skepticism. Forcing women to drink 5 gallons of whole milk daily? Is this even physically possible? I'm a pretty big eater, and I'm not sure I could manage that.

no, I don't think so, I remember reading something about how your body will reject the extra lactose.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

The overfeeding in that part of Africa is well documented. I don't know about the exact amounts of whole milk they're fed, but the girls are basically tortured into becoming obese.

Skimming to try and catch what I missed. Hugs and ~ma to them that wants and needs them, and belated happy birthdays to Hec, JZ, and sj, and belated happy move-in-versary, Andi and Daniel!

DJ, I'm so sorry.

juliana, that is an awesome tattoo!

Robin and brenda, yay for new house! Happy anniversary, Bev!

Cognrats, Debt and Deena!

Cognrats? A new species.

And all the while, I kept putting my laundry in the washing machines. Seriously. I figured, even if there was a fire, my clothes would be IN WATER.

It occurred to me when I was transporting crap to the storage bin that if my house should burn down, all the good stuff that I like will be burned up, and all I'll have left is the crap I don't really want but can't bring myself to throw out. This is really dumb.

Well, in Mauritania they can recycle all those ads that tell girls they're better looking if someone can count your ribs through your shirt.

It is so beautiful here today. Hot and perfect for the 4th. If only my A's had beaten that Canadian team, it would have been even better. Oh, well.

We are making ice cream in celebration of the weather and the day. Peppermint ice cream. Yes, there is store bought in the freezer. Hush.

I should clarify. Wasn't questioning the overfeeding so much as the particular detail. The standard for "top rate" journalism seems to be that as long as you get the main story right it does not matter if a few details are wrong. Except sometimes, those details matter coughwmdcough.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

It is gorgeous in the Bay Area. About 71 in SF with lots of sunshine and a breeze.

We went to EM's house and splashed in the pool. Matilda enjoyed the pool for about two minutes. Emmett and I roughhoused. EM got lots of Matilda time.

Later we came back to the City and visited a friend's BBQ. They've moved down to Joshua Tree and bought a house there (she's a teacher, he's an artist), but keep their SF apartment (subletting) and come back to visit regularly. But Joshua Tree sounds great. And affordable. They've already paid off their house.

Don't rub it in. It's currently 94 and almost 6 PM, which means we topped 100. Should be like that for the next couple of weeks. I do wish the mountains around me would stop burning. I'd like to do some breathing out smoke being involved.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

~ma, ~ma, ~ma for SuziQ's mom.

So, Daniel and I are pondering signing up for Netflix. Anyone know how orderly they are about stuff in your queue? I mean, if I've got Seasons 5, 6, and 7 of Stargate: SG-1 in my queue, will they send them in a silly order that makes me wish I had only put one of those seasons at a time in the list so that I get them in the right order? Also, if you've got something that is a mult-dvd set in the queue, will they try to send it to you one dvd at a time or does it come in the whole set?
