I was a very good girl last night. Came home after working out at the Y, watched Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, talked on the phone with my boyfriend, went to sleep. Okay, there were oysters and wine in there too, but mostly good (I don't think the treats were bad, just indulgent). Today, though. Today I will debauch. In fact, I think I'll go pour myself a mimosa right now so I can drink it while I shower. Yes.
Oh! And I have homemade chocolate-covered cherries! Whee!!

4th of july parade was in our part of town. There was a hello kitty statue of liberty balloon. then a party at a neighbors - Matt is still there , but I need cool and nap

Eeeh! Cute! We are about to head over to my co-worker's house in Venice for some fireworks viewing.
It did get the biggest squeals . Our area of town has lots of old trees and low power lines - and I guess there was one balloon disaster. Where we are the whole town needs to be shut down fo rthe parade - I was laughing at/ feeling sorry for my neighbors that had bagpipes warming up in front of their house. . Plus there was a giant pirate ship on a huge flatbed. I guess this is a group that does a haunted pirate ship every halloween. It was very cool
The Mauritania culture (if it is as described in the article) sounds as bad as ours. women are pushed as hard to fat in their culture as to be skinny in ours.
I have to admit a little bit of skepticism. Forcing women to drink 5 gallons of whole milk daily? Is this even physically possible? I'm a pretty big eater, and I'm not sure I could manage that.

no, I don't think so, I remember reading something about how your body will reject the extra lactose.
The overfeeding in that part of Africa is well documented. I don't know about the exact amounts of whole milk they're fed, but the girls are basically tortured into becoming obese.

And all the while, I kept putting my laundry in the washing machines. Seriously. I figured, even if there was a fire, my clothes would be IN WATER.
It occurred to me when I was transporting crap to the storage bin that if my house should burn down, all the good stuff that I like will be burned up, and all I'll have left is the crap I don't really want but can't bring myself to throw out. This is really dumb.
