Spike's Bitches 36: Did I Sully Our Good Name?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Looks like I'll be flying back to LA on Thursday evening and then most likely back here to Orlando on Sunday. The tech for the new show is going pretty well, but the Lighting Designer and I don't think that we'll have everything done by the time I need to head for the airport at 1 PM on Thursday.
It's a drag to have to travel back and forth, but considering what they are paying it's not all bad.
I don't have to submit my senior thesis project to the IRB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm thrilled that you're thrilled! (But what does this mean, OOC)?
Do you already have the topic planned? What's it to be?
{{{Laura}}} Continued dealing~ma.
Yeah, I know you're jealous. Sure, he'll give you a ride if you need one, but he'll put on make-up to give me a thrill. I'll make you a deal. You don't get all pushy and overestimate your friendship and I won't rub your face in it.
I think you're being more than fair, DJ.
(And P.S., due to my most recent PotC experiences, sooo envious right now, BTW. Though within appropriate boundaries, of course).
I think you're being more than fair, DJ.
Actually, I'm being kinda bitchy, which is why I won't say it. I just have issues with people who don't respect boundaries.
Any and almost all appreciation of my husband in eyeliner if fine by me.
Buffistae babies bring the cute, that is for sure.
That will be most helpful in the World Domination plan.
So DJ, can you stealthily take a pic of cutiehead Mr. Jane for us?
Ugh, ND. The extra travel is no fun, but yay for more $$! Woo! Are you able to make productive use of the travel time? I do loads of work when I am sitting around because I always have work to do on the laptop.
I have way too much to do to be here, and yet. A person has to take a moment now and again.
Hey DJ, this Onion article reminded me of you.
Uh...not that I think you're a bar skank, I just think you know the type.
I'm thrilled that you're thrilled! (But what does this mean, OOC)?
The IRB is the Institutional Review Board, and they have to approve research that uses human subjects. Turns out that my project doesn't need to go through this process, which is really an important process, but also a pain in the ass. And I wasn't sure it was all going to happen before I needed to leave for Chicago to do my research.
Do you already have the topic planned? What's it to be?
My topic is Oral History as Literature. A section of it will be a portion of an oral history of my step-grandma.

It depends. I can do things like read and markup scripts while I'm travelling. Usually I don't though. On projects like this I'm on the clock for at least part of the time I'm in transit. It's more about making sure I have assitant/associate designers squared away on projects if they overlap.
If this type of theme park work even picks up by around 30% for me, I'll be in a very good place financially and can probably afford to drop most of my smaller shows, which would be kinda nice.
I'm taking a guess here ND, but in most situations it seems the smaller jobs are not only less pay, but more work because there is less qualified support. The bigger jobs pay more and are often less effort and stress. You certainly deserve a bit of reward. A few hours here and there to enjoy the fruits of your labor wouldn't be a bad thing either.

They are much like Periplaneta americana, infesting bars across America.
