Spike's Bitches 36: Did I Sully Our Good Name?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Buffistae babies bring the cute, that is for sure.
That will be most helpful in the World Domination plan.
So DJ, can you stealthily take a pic of cutiehead Mr. Jane for us?
Ugh, ND. The extra travel is no fun, but yay for more $$! Woo! Are you able to make productive use of the travel time? I do loads of work when I am sitting around because I always have work to do on the laptop.
I have way too much to do to be here, and yet. A person has to take a moment now and again.
Hey DJ, this Onion article reminded me of you.
Uh...not that I think you're a bar skank, I just think you know the type.
I'm thrilled that you're thrilled! (But what does this mean, OOC)?
The IRB is the Institutional Review Board, and they have to approve research that uses human subjects. Turns out that my project doesn't need to go through this process, which is really an important process, but also a pain in the ass. And I wasn't sure it was all going to happen before I needed to leave for Chicago to do my research.
Do you already have the topic planned? What's it to be?
My topic is Oral History as Literature. A section of it will be a portion of an oral history of my step-grandma.

It depends. I can do things like read and markup scripts while I'm travelling. Usually I don't though. On projects like this I'm on the clock for at least part of the time I'm in transit. It's more about making sure I have assitant/associate designers squared away on projects if they overlap.
If this type of theme park work even picks up by around 30% for me, I'll be in a very good place financially and can probably afford to drop most of my smaller shows, which would be kinda nice.
I'm taking a guess here ND, but in most situations it seems the smaller jobs are not only less pay, but more work because there is less qualified support. The bigger jobs pay more and are often less effort and stress. You certainly deserve a bit of reward. A few hours here and there to enjoy the fruits of your labor wouldn't be a bad thing either.

They are much like Periplaneta americana, infesting bars across America.

If I had the camera. OTOH, I'm pretty sure he'll do it again. Positive conditioning and all that.

Oh gawd yes! They're also the ones who, who when they find out I'm Mrs. Jane, tell me, "It's soooooooo good to meeeeeet you!!! He's so sweet and totally into you."
Like, duh dude, I figured that out when he declared in front of about a hundred people that he was going to spend the rest of his life having my back.
We've had a problem with these down here [link] Mr. Jane swears they're getting smarter.

Sounds very cool! (And also like something that shouldn't require IRB - not as though you're experimenting on her!)
I'd be very interested to hear what kind of history/background/etc. you come up with. I was just talking about this (not precisely this, but you know) with my Dad the other night. Though he insisted on my being raised Catholic, he doesn't really believe in God, and definitely not the Bible (it's an Irish Culture thing, whatev - being raised Catholic, that is, not not believing), so he sometimes takes minor issue that with me the whole Bible Thing "took". One of his objections was that for however long, the Gospels were "oral tradition" and not written down 'til (however many) years later. I pointed out that if Oral History was your tradition, you'd probably take some care to Get It Right, much like we would with written, as that's our standard.
Anyway, very timely, your project. Sounds like a lot of fun.
