There's a discussion of Curve, David Sylvian/Japan and 80's new wave and I miss it?
*pouts*
Gotta agree with Pete about the rockingness of Curve. They had a couple of by-order-only discs that were hit or miss, but any album of theirs that got released as an album to stores is well worth the purchase. I saw them when they were touring for Come Clean (the album with "Chinese Burn" which got used prominently in a Buffy and/or Angel episode - it was either the Buffy/Faith Bad Girls dance music and/or Faith's dance!fu solo scene on Angel, but hot either way), and, sadly, the sound was sucktastic (Toni got buried in the mix horrifically). They were great though. I do miss them.
Speaking of '80s music, anybody else caught that Bruce Campbell "Hungry Like the Wolf" Old Spice ad?
Police officer just left. He filled out the report on the stolen bike and I'll get a copy online. I'll call the insurance agent this afternoon when the kids are napping.
I hate thieves. I hope they get festering boils on their asses so they can't sit on the bike.
I'll have to keep an eye on Craigslist or Ebay to see if anyone tries to sell it.
Cashmere, I'm sorry about the bike; some people suck.
Congratulations, Vortex!
I'm watching What Not to Wear right now. They're trying to make over a goth girl, and she just bought a black and pink fitted jacket that I think Jilli would approve of.

That's fun. They should do a series, working their way through Cindy's 80s videolist. I'd like to see Bruce croon "Pour Some Sugar On Me."
Since I taped so many gothy vids in the last couple years those are the one sticking in my mind.
The Passenger - Siouxsie and the Banshees
Why Can't I Be You - The Cure
Ziggy Stardust - Bauhaus
The Carnival is Over - Dead Can Dance (actually a 90s vid, but so gorgeous. That whole album, Labyrinth is pretty great)
Where's the metal love for "Rock Me Like a Hurricane"?
On the poppier end, always loved the early Go Gos videos like "Vacation" and Bananarama's "Cruel Summer" (fantastic summer song).

I knew that some people would get it, and I thought that you would be one of them.
What are they going to do about the windows, Vortex? Were they properly apologetic?
Annoyingly, the people doing the walkthrough were subcontractors, so they didn’t know anything. I am consulting with my friend the real estate lawyer.
Was this a structural change they made without informing you?
Yes. I have what they call an “architectural rendering”, which is a slightly detailed idealized plan for a structure that I got two years ago. They are very clear that you cannot rely on them, and there are some changes in the place. However, major structural changes are an issue. Two windows is a major change. In the kitchen, you can tell that something is wrong, there are no cabinets or anything in that space. They didn’t change it, they just left it out.
How crucial a matter is it--a dealbreaker on the house? A matter of a lower price for you?
Not a dealbreaker, but they probably will be giving me some money.
So are you going to be getting the "wide open spaces" kitchen? or will there be cabinets put in before you move in?
I'll probably just have them take some money off of the price. I might use it to do a pretty backsplash or maybe a trompe l'oeil of some cool scene.
or a plasma screen.
OK, but are you going to have cabinets in your kitchen?
oh, yes, I have plenty of cabinets.
Well, that's all right. I was having this image of you moving into a place with lots and lots of space in the kitchen, but no cabinets. Gotta have a place for STUFF.
