Spike's Bitches 36: Did I Sully Our Good Name?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I expect you'll know whether your zombie masters are displeased when the rotting arms come thrusting through your window screens.

I've gotten two reports from the wilds of suburbia.

First, EM called and told me about Emmett's game in the tournament he's playing in Concord. The good news is that he made a diving play in the hole at shortstop, speared the ball, popped up and still threw the runner out. Bad news, a couple innings later he was coming off the field and had massive diarrhea in his uniform. Mortification ensued.

Then JZ called from her friend's house to tell me that her friend had offered to treat her to a new haircut. She asked for a brief rundown on stylist codewords which would encourage the stylist to be adventurous.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I have succombed to the lure of the Ben and Jerry's. They didn't have the Americone Dream at 7-11, though, so I got the Willie Nelson Peach Cobbler, which is quite yummy.

Look what else I did yesterday and today: [link]

It's not quite done, but I am just LOVING it. There will be two more rows of houses on top.

Art Crawl!!!

I went to Walgreen's to pick up cat food and guess what?

They were having a buy one get one free sale on Haagen Daz and Ben & Jerry's pints. I got Dulce de Leche and Brownie Batter. (The selection was rather limited.)

Thrive to spite them

Vw that's a beautiful quilt!

Had dinner with the parents at one of my favorite local places. They make up vegetarian plates the waitress told me - just give them a theme, do you want Asian or Caribbean-- but they had fried okra on the menu so I asked for a Southern plate.

Whole fried okra, thick cut sweet potato fries, creamed spinach, cooked apples, new potatoes. So yummy. Plus for dessert Dad and I split the Apple Gallette and flourless chocolate cake.

Dad gave me interesting presents for my birthday. Two really neat dragonfly wall hangings I'd seen at the nursery. And on the unusual side -- Ginger skip the next paragraph!!

caterpillars. Which sounds totally weird I know but he got me a Happy Home and some plants , fennel and hop plant and now I have 2 types of caterpillars that will turn into butterflies. On the hop plant there was one that's going to make a chrysalis at anytime, a tiny one , and an egg. They will transform into Giant Swallotails and the ones on the fennel will turn into Black Swallowtails.

In Father's Day news, I'm going over to his house to give him the plants I bought for him and then I'm taking over some of Season 2 of Doctor Who and introduce dad to David Tennant.

Trust my rage

Poor Emmett! I hope he's feeling better.

This talk of ice cream is making me crave B&J. Turtle Soup is my favorite.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Below is a partial cross-post from my lj...it was a fantastic game...

Today was the Championship game for CJ's Little League team - the Brewers. The opposition - the Giants - had suffered only one loss the whole season. To our team.

So, today's game was amazing. It was an amazing game. Our boys were having fun and tried so hard to pull out the win. They play 6 innings at this age level and we were the visiting team. In the top of the 5th the score was 2-1 them and CJ was on deck (the next batter). We had two outs, runners on second and third, and the batter had a full count. Me, I'm in mom-freak out that my son is going to come to bat with two outs, bases loaded and the whole game on his shoulders. The batter struck out, so CJ is now going to start off the last inning.

In the top of the sixth, CJ got a nice hit into the shallow outfield, giving him a clean single. As the next batter struck out, he stole second. The following batter walked and CJ stole third. He was poised to score the tie run. The next batter struck out and we now have runners on second and third. Again. The pitcher walked the sixth batter, loading the bases so now some other kid is up with two outs, bases loaded, last chance to keep the game alive. He hit a nice line drive down the third base line and, giving credit where it is due, the Giant's third baseman made an amazing grab, ending the game.

Even though they lost, our kids kept their heads up the whole game and had FUN.
