Spike's Bitches 36: Did I Sully Our Good Name?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"shiny"

coughs

Some of us were using "shiny" in that sort of context LONG before Buffy or Firefly. IJS.

Ginger, my toe has a nice little purple stripe on the underside, where the toe joins the foot.

It is much bigger now than it was this morning, as I had to go out and do some walking. Ow.

Sean--a friend says the simplest way to be sure a bone is broken is to touch a humming tuning fork to it.

I'm not saying you should, because the positive result is supposed to be that it hurts like a mofo. But if you do, I will note your sacrifice for science, since we can't find anyone who's actually tried it yet.

Had I a tuning fork, I would gladly bite down on a stick or something and try this for you.

In the interest of scientific discovery.

Yes, I am a total wuss about pain, but I can occasionally share your scientific curiousity about one's own pains and injuries.

Our wings are not tired

Though, hmmmm. Hec and I are only a sample of one. Is Nora around to report on the McWaringle experience?

I'm not Hec, and Kristin and I aren't married, but we have been living together for almost a year now. Anyway, yeah, we get to answer the "How did you guys meet" question quite a bit, and somehow the internet seems less weird when it leads to a happy couple.

Mostly lurking...

I want to kill my family right now. And this doesn't happen very often. They're all just being very difficult. Blech.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Sean, the purple stripe suggest a break to me. Though actually when I broke my elbow there was a big pool of purple opposite from where I whacked it.

(Hec? Can I assume that Melanie is Melanie's real first name?)

You may. Melanie Safka.

I so want to see Jilli with pink hair. Also Juliana with blonde again.

Sean, the purple stripe suggest a break to me.

Yeah. I was a little uncertain yesterday, but as of today I'm pretty sure it's broken. And the purple stripe has made a bit more of an advance toward ringing the entire toe.

Not that this changes my plan of trying to stay off it, keep it elevated, and iced, but otherwise not going to an emergency room.

This would not be, by the way, the first time I've broken this toe. And done next to nothing about it.

I suspect that in my old age, this toe will cause me nothing but constant pain.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I suspect that in my old age, this toe will cause me nothing but constant pain.

When you're retired, your toe will probably sneak out and gamble away your Social Security check....

Ann, that's a ferret.

I've broken a little toe two or three times, I'm not sure which (one was kind of borderline). Taping, roomy shoes (even better, sandals if possible), don't walk too far at any one time. Works for me.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Poor Sean's toe. Taping and ice sounds like a good idea.

I spent most of this afternoon on a train next to someone who totally did not understand the idea of seat boundaries. She was sitting with a suitcase between her legs (I suggested she move it over to the suitcase area, but she didn't want to), which made her let go a good six inches onto my seat. Then she complained when I crossed my legs, because my shoe was touching a bit of the fabric of her pants.
