It's not dorky at all, but it suggests something more tech than marketing to me.
Well, I do want my focus to be technical. I am happy that I'll be getting some more marketing-writing experience, and clearly they need someone to do that kind of writing for them, but I'm not interested in marketing as a career.
Documentation Specialist is good, but it makes me think of manuals.
On the offbeat side, I like:
Messager
or
Wordsmith (which I've seen several times)
My personal favorite title was "Special Projects Juggler". It got a lot of attention, served as a conversation starter, smile generator and all around good-will launcher.
eta: oooh. I like Content Developer! It sounds tech and it breeds respect.

I'd really rather have something that strikes fear in the hearts of everyone I meet.
Ha!
I love that image. Fear my words...they'll cut ya.
eta: for some reason, I just flashed on Director, Inquisitorial Squad
What about Technical Communications Specialist?
Argh, this is so fucking irritating. I'm in the office, where I'd like to be doing work, only I can't do work because I don't have a password to get onto the main office server, because they won't give me one. And there's no one with a password here, or returning my calls. Argh. And it's me who's going to be bent over tomorrow if it's not done. Argh.
So, in the continuing saga of my day at the office, the spider-bite person turned out to be fine (and on her way in to work). However, one of the librarians who went to try and find her tripped and fell face-first into the stone steps outside the building. She's now on her way to the ER for x-rays. As I'm being told this by public safety, the fire alarm went off and he looked at me and said, I swear, "This is not a drill!" So, we were outside for almost an hour waiting to be allowed back inside. Thank dog it's a nice day out there and there was plenty of shade to share.
A pox on the law student who came up to me as we were shoo-ing them out of the building, "You know, this is very inconvenient for me!"
Technical Communications Specialist is good! (But I have no ideas for you on this, lisah.)

I'm skipping 120 posts to ask the Hivemind this question...
Have any of you ever heard of the Junior National Young Leaders Conference (JrNYLC)? Apparently my son was nominated. Meep.

Thanks! I think that's what I'll go with.

I haven't heard of it but good for him!! Who nominated him? His school?
lisah - can you hybrid your title? technical and marketing writer or technical and marketing lead writer
or Communicatrix? :>
(another cousin - not sparky- , who works theater and flies people around stages for a living has "Flight Director" as her title).
What about Director of Words and Understanding (sounds like something from The Phantom Tollbooth...)
