How's everyone else's Sunday night?
I'm about to get dressed to meet up with a friend who's flying in from LA. I haven't seen her in quite a while (I still have the Christmas present I was supposed to give her when we were both back home but kept missing each other) or I wouldn't go.
Yesterday, I had to get up at ungodly to make it a town over to do one of our classes. Got home around 1, took a shower, relaxed on the couch in my robe. Mr. Jane got into it with our bank because they didn't let our tax refund check go through, and mailed it back to us. It's almost $2,000 and is completely fucking our finances.
Anyway, he got off the phone with them, and one of our friends called about another's birthday. She was going to spend her 30th at home with her parents. So, our place was volunteered for the party. Mr. Jane gets off the phone and turns to me with a look that says, "Don't get mad." So I hop off the couch, throw on clothes and begin to clean the entire house. Mr. Jane ran to the dollar store (since we are now so broke it ain't funny). We pulled together a party complete with cake, booze, decorations and food for less than $100 and in less than 3 hours.
Party was awesome. Drinks were had. People were made out with. I have a couple of pictures I'll upload later, including a pic of the birthday girl in shoes that reminded me of Jilli. Pointy flats with skull and crossbones all over.
Great pictures, meara!
My Sunday was good. We slept in, went to a fun little shopping plaza on the way home, and we just finished a dinner of pizza, cheese, and fruit and are watching Buffy S5 and Angel S2.
Love the pictures, meara! (Yes, I finished the set I was working on. 32 explications down..27 to go. I CAN DO IT. Maybe not all tonight, but soon.)

Daisy Jane, YOU and Mr. DJ are awesome for being last-minute hosts so that your friend could have a fun birthday!
I'm just waiting for The Boy to come over so we can watch some Buffy. (That's not a euphemism. "Watch some Everybody Loves Raymond" MIGHT be a euphemism, but it's too wordy.)

Yes. This. Incredible friends to have, too.
We drove back from Indiana today. My BiL's graduation open house was yesterday. Right before we left, my BiL revealed that he got his eyebrow pierced when he was out with friends after the party. His mother is LIVID--because, she says, the boy has to work at the factory his father has been at for 30 years and she's worried what people will think. What. Ev. Er.
The boy's a good kid. He's adorable and I think the piercing looks good.
DJ, you're a good friend. I'm glad your friend had a nice birthday party. I'm impressed at how quickly you were able to throw it together.
skips 400 posts, guiltily. waves.
Hope you are all well, hope DJ's friend has skidaddled from her very unpleasant sounding spouse, hope I get the chance to go back and read properly soon. Meanwhile, I have spent the (long) weekend on the island of Ko Samui, and it was absobloodylutely splendid. Which leads to this public service announcement:
I have ridden on an elephant!!!!
t v. excited
I have ridden on an elephant!!!!
Now, that's a euphamism!
DJ, what great friends you are, and have, to pull off a party where people obviously cared more about the occasion and the company than the accutrements.
I spent most of the day in Baltimore, with my cousins. So awesome. I'd forgotten -- or repressed -- how nice it is to be near to people who share the gene pool.
I have ridden on an elephant!!!!
How fucking cool is that? Very.
the b.org is obviously in my DNA.
