Punishingly Intricate

I'm looking forward to Shear Genius tonight -- last week's premiere was refreshingly entertaining after the snoozefest of Top Design

I caught both eps last night and am LOVING it!!! My friend had seen the first ep and had said they were pretty much all like our very own crazy genius hairdresser and she was so right. I'd love to see my girl on there but, aside from being able to do a 5-minute beehive, she is super meticulous and there's no way she could deal with the time limits.

I was kind of wishing Daisy had gotten booted. Jim was a disaster but Daisy was a hot mess. Plus she's already getting on my nerves.

From the first ep, I loved Dr. Boogie's description of doing his model's hair like a sandwich. It made little sense to me but was hilarious. I predict he'll start to annoy me soon enough though. And was he serious when he said he wasn't gay? He couldn't have been.

Thrive to spite them

Then Daisy and Jim really should have told their clients that it was physically impossible to do that in 2 hours. Or maybe they thought they'd be penalized for saying no.

I did have to laugh when the colorist chick was taking all the time in teh shortcut challenge to put on her lipstick and socialize and then almost didn't get the head shampooed.

I've decided that Shear Genuis is a Mashmellow Peep of a show.

It seemed like Jim did convince his client of that but then wasn't able to come up with an alternative that wasn't...fugly.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Jim's color was atrocious. I felt badly for Daisy because she was telling her client it wasn't possible and the client wasn't having it.

I love "Shear Genius." It is really entertaining.

I LOVED the woman judge who's name I can't remember busting on the young dude for wearing a tank top when he was working on his client! I wish they'd said something to him directly though. because, she's right, ew!

ANTM -- OMG Tyra in the kangaroo outfit! And Natasha not understanding until 20 minutes or whatever after everyone else! I didn't like her in the beginning but I think she and Dionne (although she was kind of flat last night) are my picks for top 2. Natasha just really listens (although it might take her a while longer than some of the other girls) and goes for it with every challenge.

And was he serious when he said he wasn't gay? He couldn't have been.

This is, I think, one of the big questions of the season -- which of the men who have insisted they are not gay actually, in fact, are?

YES PLEASE! 'Cause dude, if you flash one of those pits in my face while you're working on my head, I'm punching you in the fellas.

I have a completely irrational love for Blake, despite what he did to The Cure a few weeks ago.

to be fair, 311 did it first and he really just copied them. i actually don't have a problem with either version. i like them just as much as the Cure. (plus, he's stated from pretty much the beginning that 311 is one of his favorite bands. so i wasn't surprised when he did their version.)

I guess right now I'm hoping for him or Jordin.

GO BLAKE! CHOOOOOOOOOOOOSE BLAKE!!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Damn you people, now I have to go catch up on the stupid haircut show! I don't have time to watch any more shows!

Sally Hershberger - the most notorious ladykiller dyke in Los Angeles. Famously the inspiration for the hairstylist character on The L Word and best known for creating Meg Ryan's much copied 'do of the 90s.

I'm trying to think of challenges I'd like to see. Definitely something with vintage hairstyling, either a forties pin set and pompadour, or a sixties beehive. Something severely challenging for cutting technique - maybe when they get to a smaller group doing Sassoon style bobs on women with exactly the same hair texture. Maybe a professional makeover for women from a halfway house going to a job interview. They'll definitely have to do some sort of formal updo eventually. Speed french braiding a cheerleading squad? Maybe something with black hair since that's such a distinct skill set.

Daisy will get bumped for time management eventually. She's actually got a pretty good sense for hair. Anthony and Tabitha look like they could go to the final two, with Tabitha losing because she's not customer friendly. I'm curious to see if Tyson is as good as he thinks he is.

It's more the fact that he was able to pick something form The Cure and that's the song he chose. But, if 311 is one of his favorite bands, then I guess it makes sense.
