I think they've mellowed some of the years. I know there was one episode where the woman only had 1 pair of pants being held together by safety pins and she was trying on skirts and in tears and Clinton seemed distressed for her (they were watching the first shopping day) and said the problem was with the skirt, not her, you take off the skirt and find something else that works. At the second shopping day they gave her a hug and told her some of that.

I always like it when, after a really bad Shopping Day 1, they just show up first thing, instead of jumping out after a while. Stacey & Clinton get much more sympathetic with people who seem genuinely traumatised by the whole thing.
Vortex, wasn't your friend going to be on one of the first US episodes? I can see it taking a while for them to get their act together, attitude-wise.
They had a different guy in the early seasons didn't they?
Yeah, I think Clinton was brought in for just that reason, to tone it down a bit.
They really are a lot nicer than Trini and Susannah (the Brit originals), but I do like the way that T & S manhandle the female makeovers' breasts when they're just flopping around due to bad bras. They're so out there with it!
Yes, the first guy was an asshat -- Clinton is so much better.
I hate that the American ones call breasts "girls" but so very much love it when they get a lady in a good bra! Makes such a huge difference. There's a lady in my office now who needs their help that way.

Oh, yeah, I hated that guy! Really, for the most part, Stacey & Clinton are pretty nice.
My favorite thing is when the women with too long hair cry about getting their hair cut. (It almost always ends up looking a million times better.) I also love when the girls on ANTM freak out about their makeovers. I'm just mean like that.

It was 3 or 4 years ago, so possibly. I knew what the show was when they told me.

yeah, this bitchy guy with long grey streaked brown hair.

One of the first WNTW eps I saw years ago was one where a woman had gorgeously long, extra curly hair, and she flat out refused to let Nick touch it with his scissors. There was no way she was going to change her mind, so he ended up just adding some goop that made it curl even nicer and look even better. She was happy enough with that, but that was the only time I've ever seen Nick out-stubborned when it came to someone's hair. She was young enough that she got away with it, but there was another ep with a lady in her 40s (a horse trainer, IIRC), with a pony tail that went down to her butt. It was pretty, but she looked much better with the short 'do she ended up with.
