Work out: Why didn't Jackie at least bring her sketches with her to the meeting?
Experimental TV: Non-Fiction
This thread is part of an experiment to discern the Buffistas' future interest in television discussion. It will remain open until June 1st, 2007, upon which date there will be spirited debate regarding the infinite possibilities for our board's development. This thread is for non-fiction tv, including but not limited to documentaries and reality shows. [NAFDA]
Shear Genius: I know, totally. I couldn't believe Evangelin pulled it off, but I have to admit, her client looked great. Tyson was right with his ordering, but probably wrong to admit how he did it. If I were Boogie, I'd be all miffed. You think I'm the least competition? Although because of the nature of the challenge, it was probably a good order, because none of the tools there were Boogie's first choice. Even though he got decent scissors, it wasn't going to be a good option for him.
I would like to see Anthony step it up a little bit. I think he's got talent, but we've yet to see him come out with something completely stunning. While I agree with Tyson that he's major competition, he should listen to the advice they gave Boogie and make sure he doesn't stagnate in the middle.
Tabatha. What can I say about her? I almost invariably love her cuts, but man she is so bitchy and whiny to her clients, I would never get my hair cut by her. But I love that when Tyson was asking everybody to name their reasons why he should pick them, she was totally, you shouldn't pick me. Implying that she was competition for him, and sure enough, he put her last. And rightfully so, in my opinion. Although I can't believe she was able to cut anything with those kid scissors.
Tyson is, well, kinda hot. I think his self-promotion is going to make me sick here, but the problem is that he's got the competence to back it up. It'll trip him up at some point, I'm thinking, but he really does have a good aesthetic and excellent technical skills. I have a competence kink.
I didn't mind the double elimination and am all right with both of the people gone. Lacey was just stupid. It was clearly stated in the challenge guidelines that part of the judging was to see how closely it matched the specified cut. And her lines were all weird. It wasn't even a very attractive cut judged on its on merits, and Sally was right, it certainly wasn't a shag. And then she knew halfway through it was going to be an elim, and the cut was long enough she could have corrected it, but she didn't.
Theo, too, just didn't manage the basic form of the challenge. It wasn't a long to medium challenge, it was long to short, and that cut just wasn't.
Although I've got to say, that must have been a completely traumatic experience for those clients and most of them will never ever cut their hair again. Going long to short is scary enough, without someone coming at you with hedge clippers. Having done it myself several times, that first "snip" is the loudest sound in the world, without your stylist being panicky and unsure with their tools!

I think this goes here. I am watching "The Daily Show" and Garry Shandling has had some crazy work done on his face. He is super-puffy, orange, AND sagging. How does that work?
This season of Survivor is continuing to rock - I'm almost going to miss Alex & Mookie's weekly Battle Of The Giant Tools. "We can use this information!" Uh...sure. You can use it to make sure everyone knows that you were going through people's personal stuff while they were out fishing. Reeeeeeeal smooth.
I know. When did it get so good all of a sudden? Oh man, did that crack me up when every got all outraged about going through the bag.
Also - I'm assuming there's a rule against stealing the idol? Or are they even bigger boneheads than they appear?
Alex voted Mookie, huh? For a moment I wondered if Earl had tipped him off. But I don't think so, actually.
I'm watching for perhaps the millionth time my favorite Animal Planet doc (non-series), Awesome Pawsome, about four tiger cubs born in a Queensland theme park. They're sooooo cute!
Battle of the giant tools, hee. So true. When is Mookie gonna figure out Alex turned on him? Because I don't think he understands yet.
Hey, remember the bald guy from season two of the Next Food Network Star?
He's got his own show "A Lyon in the Kitchen" on Discover Health.
I was kind of out of it last night so it took me until this morning to realize that Alex voted for Mookie. I think I missed something...did he agree to vote for Mookie during the luxury reward?
It was funny to see Alex and Mookie see the group talking and misinterpert that as the group being upset over Yao Man having the idol rather than the group being upset that Alex and Mookie went through everyone's stuff and trying to blackmail Yao Man.
And I caught a teeny bit of Work Out --why didn't Jackie call her business partner first thing or the company that made her clothes and ask what was going on. That was the first thing I would have done rather than waiting to see the business partner the day of the meeting.
