Have you seen episodes from seasons 2 and 3 of the US version?
I have, and I agree with GC on this one -- the US show is fine, but it's not Great in the same way that the UK one was. It's an above-average American sitcom, but it's still...an American sitcom. If the shows didn't have the same name, they'd be impossible to compare, because they're such different critters.
I can't think of many scenes anywhere in television that can compete with Tim taking his mic off in the S2 finale. It's one of those perfect moments.
(And I'm now running through all of my other favorite moments from the show in my head, which means I need to hear "Free Love Freeway" RIGHT NOW. Thank goodness for YouTube!)

I'm with Jessica on all of this.
I agree. The original is a work of art and the USian version is a sitcom. But it's a very GOOD sitcom, and there aren't really that many out there right now.
I agree with that, too. I am agreeable today.
No. And believe me, I was not looking for another show. Cause they're all Not-The-Wire, and thus, fall short of greatness every day. But this one snuck up me.
But I won't ever say "Jam" as a name. Ever.
Ooh, Corwood got laid last night...how's the other guy holding up?
(/gratuitous, though sanitized, Wirefiend banter)
I think they're utterly different, too. I just don't think the US version is lacking in heart.

Like I said, was completely expecting Jim to let party-crasher Michael finish the Parton part, and possibly make some smart-ass applause...when he bailed him out, somehow that touched me. And I don't really mean porn, though I'm beginning to crush on him.
30 Rock just lost me thanks to the Alec Baldwin voicemail rant at his daughter. I'm never going to be able to watch one of his goofy moments on this show or SNL and smile again.
