Boxed Set, Vol. IV: It's always suicide-mission this, save-the-planet that.

A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Have the longish previews been shown on BBCA? I'm trying to determine if something is still a casting spoiler?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I think there's a valid argument to be made, based (at minimum) on Beth and Cyberwoman being the only black women (and really, just about the only blacks of any gender) that we've seen at all.

There was the policewoman in "They Keep Killing Suzie."

Art Crawl!!!

The one that's up on the BBCA site is the only one I've seen.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, that's why I interjected the yay, because part of why I fell in love with the Whoverse was because Rose & Mickey's ethnicities were completely nonissue in their relationship. I really love to see interracial relationships being treated matter-of-factly, which has happened in these serii. Which is why those two specific interracial relationships, which also happened to both be white male/black female pinged me so badly. In both cases, there were also gender politics in play and some other underlying issues I found problematic.

Which is not to say that the concerns aren't valid. It didn't ping me, but I'm well aware that my love for the show completely overwhelms the thinky brain.

At the end of the first ep aired in the UK, there was a longer promo that showed scenes from several of the upcoming episodes, including a casting spoiler. I take it BBCA hasn't shown that?

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

She's half of a mixed race couple and is automatically assumed to be the villain.

I think that the assumption of villain was more due to the fact that there were two dead people and two injured people in her apartment and she didn't have a scratch on her than race.

Despite her being "other", she made the ultimate human sacrifice in the end. I believe that her human side was in control when she was "threatening" Gwen; suicide by Torchwood as it were.

I like the fact that they have colorblind casting in this show. The actress was clearly incredible in the part, I doubt that they cast her for her race.
