Yes, Out of Time is a beautiful episode.
Boxed Set, Vol. IV: It's always suicide-mission this, save-the-planet that.
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Torchwood seems to be finding its legs with the last few episodes. If this keeps up for the remaining three (I think they said), than I have pretty high hopes for season 2.
To expand - they seem to have gotten past "we're the NAUGHTY show" (though some of that still remains) and gone to a "we can explore THIS" area.
Oh, oh, I remembered another part of this episode I love. Owen's whole speech about being scared, and Diane just looks at him and says, "I love you too."
Yes - that was great.
It's weird. Conceptually, I would have thought Jack would be all over Diane since she was so obviously the free spirit of the three. I liked how it ended up so much better though. The suicide scenes were hard to watch, and I got the feeling Jack really wanted to be going too.
I got the feeling Jack really wanted to be going too.
Oh, yeah, totally.
Really enjoyed the episode. I could have done less with Owen's sex face, but, whatever, what can ya do. I did actually feel a little bad for him at the end (I know!!) because that really just sucks- "yeah... I think I'd rather die or, you know, be ANYWHERE but here with you. So... see ya!"
Also: re the "smoking kills" warning on the cigs- "What does this mean?!?" Hee!
Looks like more trouble is on the horizon for Gwen and Rhys. Poor Gwen. I just don't think she knew what she was in for, and by the time she did, it was too late.
The only downside of this ep of Torchwood was they found so little for Tosh to do.
I couldn't watch the SGA episode, it was too bad.
Frankly SGA has yet to convince me that Keller has completed her medical training, nevermind military survival courses.
I couldn't watch the SGA episode, it was too bad.
Well, we watched it, but I couldn't stop yelling at the tv. No way is civilian physician who is crackerjack good enough as a doctor as she would have to be to be invited into the SGC or IOA or whichever, going to be so stupidly, stick-in-the-mud, stay-at-home, ostrich-heading incompetent as to not either have already secured a modicum of survival and self-defense training and then on top of that be seeking out opportunities for further training in precisely those areas.
I'm overweight, out of shape, couldn't even finish university, doing menial (compared to that of a doctor) labor, with no intention of traveling to other worlds, and I'm better prepared than Keller. I say this, having taken a self-defense course in phys. ed., and having read the U.S. Army's field guide to survival. And if for some reason, it was decided that someone in another galaxy needed a caregiver for developmentally disabled aliens, and I am just the hoopy frood to do the job, I would for darn sure be demanding more training in those areas.
It isn't just that she didn't know anything. She went all helpless female. She keeps screaming and yelling for Teyla, even though they are supposedly hiding. You don't have to have any training to keep your mouth shut. She held a gun it like it was a wet fish.
See shows like that bring into sharp focus exactly how little patience I have. While Teyla was just rolling her eyes or grimicing while the doctor was endangering them, I would have said, "if you don't shut up, I will end you." I had the same reaction when Callie on BSG froze with the gun. I hated her from that moment on.
No patience for helpless female. None. At all.
I probably should add that I've never been tested with roving bands of reaver rip-offs chasing me. So ironically, I might actually be a helpless female and just don't know it.
