Boxed Set, Vol. IV: It's always suicide-mission this, save-the-planet that.

A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Dr Who S3:

I am pretty easy to please, Dr. Who wise, so I liked it OK. I also wondered why Martha was still on. Tom theorized that maybe it's because Ten almost got her killed last time, she gets another trip? Because there's your gimmick for the entire season right there. However, it was very paint by the numbers to last seasons Rise of the Cyberman, what with the recruiting human guinea pigs from poverty and factories to kill/change people and of course the To Be Continued part. They even had the same lockstep sound effects going. Oh noes, casting spoilers! Sigh.

Also, Tom's theory about Dalek eps and quality of writing- that they're such crowd pleasers that the writers don't bring their A Game to those eps.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I don't know, Nora. "Dalek" was one of my favorite episodes of the first season.

Oh, yes, mine too. I actually think that the theory only holds up with this particular episode. But it MUCH more fun to make sweeping generalizations!

Is there definitive word yet on the renewal or lackthereof for Supernatural?

sumi - Apr 23, 2007 9:24:38 am PDT #749 of 10001
Art Crawl!!!

Nope. But Connie, when they ran the Brick awards in that time slot they got didn't even get a 1. When they run new Supernatural they consistently get 3 million plus people. (I don't recall what the other number is.) This is why I'm not afraid of it.

Plus, there are now THREE different contests AND the comic all about SPN.

Oh, I hope you guys took careful note of the important information in the promo: the HEIGHT of the guys.

The evil is this way?

The PBS station here in Chicago is running "Doctor Who" on Sunday nights. (Starting with The Ninth Doctor) If memory serves, that was when I first was introduced to The Doctor some 25+ years ago. The 45 minutes episode was followed with the companion "Doctor Who Confidential" episode.

ColinG - Apr 23, 2007 5:26:51 pm PDT #752 of 10001

In Eugene, Oregon they are getting us the Doctor on PBS in the same 45 min chunks, followed by an abbreviated Confidential highlight reel (to fit in the remaining 15 min for the hour of programming time). The Confidentials seem a lot snappier at the shorter running time.

Fiona - Apr 23, 2007 10:51:33 pm PDT #753 of 10001

They run the Confidentials at 15 minutes on BBCTHREE too, when they're repeating and have an hour to fill. So it's a BBC edit.

Finally saw the whole Daleks in Manhattan episode last night. All my quibbles are Empire State Building related. You can't see it from Central Park! And the elevator doesn't go up to 100 floors, just 80 floors! (And then another six!).

Otherwise, I had no complaints.
