Really love how creepy this episode of Torchwood is.
'Sleeper'
Boxed Set, Vol. IV: It's always suicide-mission this, save-the-planet that.
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Oh, this should be Countrycide. Heh.
Small Worlds.
Ohhh. Well, um, wait until next week.
That's right, this is the one with the fairies.
Damn, after the absolute cold-bloodedness of last week, this week's TORCHWOOD makes me cry. Twice. Kudos.
What exactly was the behind the scenes reason? Did TPTB want to move Sam over and so decided to get rid of Weir?
Amanda Tapping had at least another year left on her contract, I think. Plus, they love her. I think they were also directed to cut costs. I'm not sure how adding Tapping and Staite and subtracting McGillion and Higginson does that, though.
Alex O'Laughlin is cute, as is Sophia Myles and I'm liking them both as actors. I enjoyed this second ep, and there was no giggling on my part like there was for the pilot. And of course, being that the lead is a vampire, I can hope for much more character torture, which I adore. Speaking of which, I'm shocked that Beth didn't press with the "holy shit, are you okay? I saw multiple bullet wounds in you, how ya doin'?" and went straight past that to the mystery of who and what he is. And the revelation scene was pretty well played.
Interesting that in '83, Mick was a PI but he was still feeding on people. I wonder if we'll learn what set him on the noble bloodbank path.
I think this could be one of my shows that I watch for the character torture and angst (with or without cheese). And I'm really surprised that I don't hate Beth's boyfriend. Shocking that he was written as someone I could believe she'd be with and not the "he's no good for her, what's she doing with him, great set-up for her to dump his ass and get with the vamp!" We'll see how long that lasts.
Why did Wier have to be written out? And what happened to the doctor? I haven't see last season yet.
I really hate learning the meta behind crappy narrative decisions (tell me more!). It just really takes away my hope for any sort of enjoyment out of a show.
