I am the fly who dreams of the spider

crap, forgot about Moonlight! Streaming it now.

The title card makes me laugh. I think of Sesame Street when they're teaching you how to say a word.

Moon.....Light.

Moon...Light.

Moon.Light.

Moonlight!

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I thought it was a pretty good swan song for the Weir character on SGA, despite being very unhappy with the behind-the-scenes situation that resulted in her departure "needing" to be written. The character was well-served by the story, and her sacrifice (lethal or not) actually meant something rather than being the pointless result of a drive-by tumor explosion.

But things did irritate: despite it making sense for Teyla to be left out of the action since someone needs to be around to lead in the absence of everyone higher in the chain of command than Chuck, it still felt like just one more marginalization of her character to throw on the pile. And checking my watch, I see it's half-past time for Rodney to shut the fuck up.

Damn, after the absolute cold-bloodedness of last week, this week's TORCHWOOD makes me cry. Twice. Kudos.

Thrive to spite them

What exactly was the behind the scenes reason? Did TPTB want to move Sam over and so decided to get rid of Weir?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Amanda Tapping had at least another year left on her contract, I think. Plus, they love her. I think they were also directed to cut costs. I'm not sure how adding Tapping and Staite and subtracting McGillion and Higginson does that, though.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Alex O'Laughlin is cute, as is Sophia Myles and I'm liking them both as actors. I enjoyed this second ep, and there was no giggling on my part like there was for the pilot. And of course, being that the lead is a vampire, I can hope for much more character torture, which I adore. Speaking of which, I'm shocked that Beth didn't press with the "holy shit, are you okay? I saw multiple bullet wounds in you, how ya doin'?" and went straight past that to the mystery of who and what he is. And the revelation scene was pretty well played.

Interesting that in '83, Mick was a PI but he was still feeding on people. I wonder if we'll learn what set him on the noble bloodbank path.

I think this could be one of my shows that I watch for the character torture and angst (with or without cheese). And I'm really surprised that I don't hate Beth's boyfriend. Shocking that he was written as someone I could believe she'd be with and not the "he's no good for her, what's she doing with him, great set-up for her to dump his ass and get with the vamp!" We'll see how long that lasts.
