Just watched Torchwood. Surprisingly,I didn't love it. I mean, I loved the hottness of John Barrowman, but it was meh for me. I really didn't like the interstitials with their abruptness and annoying sounds. I will, of course, continue to watch.

Boxed Set, Vol. IV: It's always suicide-mission this, save-the-planet that.
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Don't feel weird for not loving Torchwood, Vortex. I love everything, and I didn't love it. In fact, I kind of hated it and stopped watching after about five episodes.
Many people do love it, though, and say it gets better near the end, as shows often do.
I was very disappointed with Torchwood too; kept waiting for it to get better and it didn't, really. Or at least, it never lost its rather childish, "look at me! I'm for grown-ups! I can have sex and swear!!1!" attitude, which was tiresome.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up that it will have found its feet in the season two, especially now that Who has resolved some of the Jack issues.
Happy EUREKA day, everyone. I'm unreasonably fond of that show, even if I nitpick it to death afterwards.
We nitpick because we love. It's The Buffista Way.
Yeah, not so much with the Torchwood love myself either. I'm afraid I just couldn't get around Owen being just a reprehensible pig and the show having no underlying sense of humour. Just a wee smidge of not-taking-ourselves-TOO-seriously would have gone down a treat. (I was surprised, as it's one of the things I love best about Dr Who is the ability to put forth a serious subject in a not-humourless manner.)
On the other hand, I've seen the pilot for the Sarah Jane Chronicles (not to be confused with the Sarah Connor Chronicles, in case I am) and thoroughly enjoyed it. Maybe the Whoverse simply works best when it allows itself to be a kid show watched by adults, rather than trying to put an adult stamp on something that needs an essential touch of innocence to work.
the Sarah Jane Chronicles (not to be confused with the Sarah Connor Chronicles, in case I am)
It's The Sarah Jane Adventures.
Torchwood does get better, interesting things happen, and even Owen gets partly redeemed.
Second half of season is better.
I liked Torchwood better than season 2 of Doctor Who.
Although, I am really enjoying season 3 of Doctor Who.
The pilot of the Sarah Jane Adventures is lots of fun.
Yeah, TW took a few episodes to grow on me -- but when it did, I got to lurve it with a big big lurve like no other show I was watching at the time. (This is not to say, "I don't care if you hate it! You must watch more!", but if you don't hate it but it's not quite working for you, give it another shot. If nothing else, it's Capt. Jack goodness all the time.)
