And I briefly started shipping Carter and the vet. Still can't figure out where she's from, but she's cute as hell.

Searching imdb, visiteureka, even wiki, to find that actress' name. Didn't find it, but I did find this conversation regarding Jo:

"whew! it looks like Fargo is out."

"I'm still annoyed they broke up Jo and Taggart. Those two were meant for each other."

"It's becoming a running gag. Every episode they throw another suiter at her. Maybe the season finale will have her fighting off the entire town (except for Carter, who is immune to everything) and we'll discover the dirty little secret about that perfume she wears."

Huh. This season is really hitting my embarrassment squick. Much more so than last season.

There was a lot of that watch-from-the-hall feeling, wasn't there?

I really liked the guest actor (the genius criminal one) and kind of hoped he was going to hang around. After Zoe's initial hissy fit about being the sheriff's daughter, I really thought she was going to go for him, not Jo. I could like him and Jo together for a bit. Taggert's too broad for me, more often than not. I also liked the genius-finder. Something about him put me in mind of Firefly's Badger. With his talk of Eureka citizens being his people, I sort of felt like they were planting seeds for us to see him again.

Henry DID spill the beans! At least about Beverly. Way cool.

I love how this season has treated Jack's mindwipe. It's never the focus of an episode, but you can follow the thread in episodes like "Noche de Suenos," and "E=MC?." I really wish this series was 22 episodes long. It's my favorite thing on TV.

I thought this episode was a lot of fun. There were a couple of times where Nathan's dumb voice hit me as overdone. And I took a wee bit of umbrage at Allison dressing prettier and talking more softly, just because she wasn't smart. Speaking of umbrage, why do they keep making me like Nathan/Allison, when it's Jack and Allison I want together?

I think Henry's comment had more to do with Jack constantly being around conversations he has no idea the meaning of, not necessarily that he's dumb. It actually struck me as a little poignant bit of empathy (as opposed to how it played in the commercials).

I agree, which made me glad, because Jack's not dumb. He had Scott and me in fits of laughter, last night -- Scott particularly, during the over-protective Daddy scenes with Zoe.

But, funny ep. I didn't even freak out when it began outside of Eureka. (Well, maybe a little. And then I was all excited with thinking that they were doing a U.S. Marshall ep).

I did. I was sure Sci-Fi had screwed with their programming and that I wasn't even seeing Eureka, at all. Scott had to talk me down.

I laughed throughout last night -- sure, some of it was watch-from-the-hall (and I share Cindy's snarl at Allison's wardrobe changing with her IQ), but overall I had a lot of fun.

The "Yay we fixed the chaotic thingy oops that didn't make everyone smart again" moment was very House-like.

The vet isn't listed in IMDB for this ep, but she's definitely a "Oh, it's THEM!" type actor.

I wanted more Dumb!Stark/Carter interactions. Stark's regular snarkiness and disdain for Carter, filtered through a fog of dumb = comedy GOLD, and criminally underused here.

And even though it's counter to the show's standard, I'd love to see an ep someday where someone other than Carter is the only one immune to the MOTW that incapacitates the town. It's a gimmick that works really well within the show's framework, but I'd have loved to see Carter and Stark trying to beat each other at foosball while Zoe and Jo run around trying to fix things.

Yeah. The line between "dumb" and "childish" wasn't very clear. I think it would have worked better if it were more like "Band Candy", and it was explicit that everyone was acting like a child.

Because you can be plenty smart and still watch "Dexter's Laboratory."

(Though her dress really was lovely.)

I think the vet is Allison Hossak, whom I think I recognize from Kingdom Hospital as the doctor working Andrew McCarthy.

Stark got way too much of a surfer-dude doing an impression of John Wayne. Allison almost redeemed herself when she said "I feel like I'm losing myself" and was actually upset about what was happening to her.

Speaking of Band Candy, did Stark's outfit last night seem reminiscent of how Giles dressed down when he went all Ripper?

Jeans and a teeshirt? I can't make alot out of that.

Torchwood DVD Extras Sneaked


The first-season DVD of the BBC's Doctor Who spinoff series, Torchwood, streets on Jan. 8, 2008, and will include 10 behind-the-scenes featurettes on seven discs.

The show, which will also premiere in the United States on Sept. 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on BBC America, stars John Barrowman as Capt. Jack Harkness, the leader of a top-secret team of British agents who investigate the unknown and fight the impossible, using scavenged alien technology.

The bonus features include the featurettes Welcome to Torchwood; Torchwood on the Scene; Torchwood Out of this World; Torchwood Sex, Violence, Blood and Gore; Torchwood on the Road; The Team and Their Troubles; Torchwood: Moments in the Making; The Captain's Log; Torchwood on Time; and Torchwood Declassified. The DVD will also feature deleted scenes, audio commentary on all 13 first-season episodes and outtakes.

Torchwood: The Complete First Season will carry a suggested retail price of $79.98 in the United States.

The third season DVD set for Doctor Who, meanwhile, will street on Nov. 6.

The six-disc set will include the featurettes Freema Agyeman Tour of the Studio and David Tennant's Video Diaries, outtakes, deleted scenes, video of the first rehearsal of the season's finale and audio commentaries. The DVD set will also include an Easter egg of the Doctor's message from the episode "Blink." The set will carry a suggested retail price of $99.98.

Ouch on those prices. I'm tempted to rent the Torchwood ones for the extras, though.
