You don't ever need to justify taking your clothes off for your craft. Or our pleasure. Or laughs.
I am soo out of this conversation. But yay for tonights Eureka.
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Didn't they do the liquid breathing in Abyss?
Yes, they did.
It seemed to be my purpose in the troop for a while to be the 18 year old goof.
Hey, now. Partial nudity was more a side effect. Kinda win/win, I guess. Audience certainly enjoyed it.
Ed and I were very confused about having to take off our clothes when the ladies never have to
Just doing a little bit to nudge the balance far away from the cheesecake side of things. Is there more (she asks abstractly)? I mean, did it happen a lot, or just once or twice a season?
It is odd, but mostly because it's usually the other way round--but it's so much easier to play male nudity for laughs than it is female nudity.
Ha! Painkiller Jane NOT picked up.
Good.
I was going to be really po'd if DF is killed and this dreck lives on.
How did that score an initial 22 episode order?
I don't know -- how did Flash Gordon?
Why NOT 22 episodes for DF?
Sadly, FG did well ratings wise. We'll see if that lasts.
I assumed that living in Eureka was like signing a blanket consent form "people may do weird shit to me. If it's ok with Global, it's ok with me. I just really want to work here." That's the best handwave I've got.
You know, I'd be willing to give them that, but it's not a "double blind study". Additionally, it's against all of the tenets of responsible research. But, I think that Eureka is not known for responsible research.
I haven't heard anything good about Flash Gordon, but I haven't watched it myself.
Still thinking about gender nudity. Naked women are desirable. And vulnerable in a different way than men. Mostly naked men are blunders and goofs, even when they're eye candy. You don't so much laugh at naked and attractive women, and they're probably more scarred than the viewers, because of the power differential.
Yes, of course there are a million exceptions to this, but it feels applicable enough a generalisation.
I agree with your assessment of gender differences in public nudity, ita. I'd delve into the why of it, but I'm supposed to be editing.

Just when I'd lost all hope, a glimmer of sanity.
According to Robert, Lionsgate loves TDF and would still like to do something with it. Whether that means they're actively TRYING to do something with it, I don't know.
Oh, oh -- USA!!! TNT!!! Someplace where I can see it please.
Flash got a 1.5 on Friday. I didn't see whether they kept that throughout or whether thousands turned away after the first 30 minutes or something.
Anyway, that 1.5 beat PKJ's 1.3 and DF's 1.4 debuts.
