The Edmonton Journal is reporting that a Lionsgate Production that is on Scifi is going to be filming there. From the article:
Edmonton's geek community -- my peeps -- will be thrilled at the coming possibilities. Being considered for the Edmonton location are one of two possible series: 1) the self-explanatory Masters of Horror; or 2) the modern-day detective fantasy, the Dresden Files.
Once the decision is made, later this month, production people will be hired, including location managers. Shooting will begin this fall.
The cast will be brought in largely intact. But it's expected that the local acting community will also see opportunities for work.

I've loved Doctor Who for a long time, it was one of my childhood shows, that I watched again as an adult, eagerly wishing for it return in a real way (and we won't count that "movie" even if they do). The show has made me laugh, scared me, had me rolling my eyes, or shaking my head. But never feeling absolutely gutted. I feel that way for everyone, Joan, and John Smith. Martha and the Doctor. Tim.

So hey, I watched the first episode of Eureka. It was cute! CFerg rocketh. I will probably watch more.

Robin Weigert, too! Awesome. I was planning on catching the show anyway since I adore Damien Lewis, and this is just icing on the cake.
I've heard not-good things about Life, unfortunately. But maybe the show will be better than the pilot -- I hope so, for the sake of the cast.
I've seen the first 2 eps of Eureka S2 and they were really, really good. Definitely a darker show this season, but not at all lacking in characteristic Eureka quirk. (The dark comes through stronger than the quirk when the eps don't have complete soundtracks yet.)
Colin if you're around, can you confirm that "Phoenix Rising" is the premiere and "Try, Try Again" is the 2nd ep? (They're in reverse order on the DVD, but watching TTA first just didn't make a whole lot of sense. I think they just laid the chapters down backwards when they sent out the screeners.)
According to my DVR, “Phoenix Rising” is the episode that is airing on Tuesday.
