Doctor Who: SA, I agree, I think that showing Gallifrey was one of the best moments in the last episode. The really can't avoid doing a bit of backstory when it comes to the Master, can they?

I thought Jack was rather underused this past episode, though, I hope he gets more to do in the finale (provided he doesn't have to keep dying, of course) .

And ion, while watching my tape of Army Wives, I saw an ad for a new lifetime movie starring Katee Sackhoff called, "How I Married My High School Crush."

Fiona (DW): I agree about Jack being underused. I mean, on the one hand, if you're going to bring Jack back it almost should be a proper story about Jack, you know? Fix the unfurled thread and all that. But I also kind of think it's keen that they just threw him back into the Doctor's world and let him go, even if it meant not giving him more stuff, because that's what it was a lot of the time back in series one.

Also, it wasn't just seeing Gallifrey for me--it was that intense explanation of what had happened, and the way the Doctor's entire mannerism transformed when he was talking to the one person in the universe who could actually understand what happened. That tense, serious focus; the way he never broke face, not once, even when the master was mustache twirling with sorrowful maliciousness. You get used to never expecting explanations, in Doctor Who. You handwave all kinds of shit, especially explicit emotional interaction and character backstory. But then RTD *gave us some* and I am still flailing with the awesomeness of it.

Not to mention that single throwaway line about fancying someone who never notices you with his manic grin on, and Jack looking at Martha sympathetically: "You too, huh?" Yeah, babe. Her too.

BLESS. I love this show.

Also, I went to the Doctor Who exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry here in Manchester yesterday, and it was *brilliant.* It had all these amazing props and costumes and Daleks and Cybermen and THE FACE OF BO. I stood next to the Face of Bo! I hugged the TARDIS!

They had the full-size Spider Queen--she was huge!--and the Lazarus Machine they used in the beginning of season three, and a couple of Ood, and, and and!

Maybe it will tour like the Lord of the Rings one did? Because otherwise, NOT FAIR.

No, I don't think so--I think it was a special exhibit for the Manchester MOSI. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's staying in Manchester until the end of July, and then done. But they keep adding stuff from series three, so I wish I had a chance to go back before it finished!

There's a Classic Who museum in Blackpool, apparently, with all this material from the first series, and the new series has loaned some stuff out to that museum as well.

Did I mention the series two Doctor coat was there? Because it was! And it was long and very cool-looking!
