Gwen: Demon, OK? The whole nine—cloven feet and horns and teeth. He wasn't wearing lamé though. Lorne: Yeah, the evil ones can't pull it off. It gets camp.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

If you do want the day off tell them you need a personal day.

If you don't feel like being specific say you have a family situation that needs to be addressed.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Play it by ear, tommy! Especially if you're having trouble sleeping and would be a wreck anyway, or if going off to someplace nice (a "happy place") would help console. Just sitting alone in your cat-less home might not be so good.

I'm so very sorry!

Ann, that's a ferret.

((((tommyrot)))) Do what you need to do to take care of yourself. And anyone who makes fun of you for it deserves a swat with the karma klub.

(ETAdd: The more I read that, the more it seems to wishing something more serious than I had in mind. "Swat" is more like spilling something that really stains a brand new white shirt.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think it is a thing that people do -- I have a coworker who took the day off when her cat died earlier this year.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Also, they gave me a little clay pad with his pawprints on it.

What a nice idea. The last two places I worked would not have responded well to someone taking a dead pet day, but they were also not known for their sensitivity. I still haven't forgiven the evil supervisor who, when I told her I'd be in a half hour late because I had to leave my sick dog at the vet, asked my why I didn't just put her down.

Happy Anniversary to us, Sean! - 11 years ago today we met.

Wow. That long, huh?

Damn, I miss you. And thanks for the happy birthday wishes.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

And not to be overly ass-cover-y or manipulative or something, saying it happened "last night" allows for a late night and not enough sleep to go in. If you're not comfortable asking for the day for grief.

JenP - May 28, 2007 4:50:18 pm PDT #9701 of 10001

Oh, I meant to say earlier - Happy Birthday, Sean!

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Tommy, it's totally done -- I mean, y'all have an office dog, right? I'm sure your boss would understand, even if it has to be a personal day/mental health day/sick day on the official books. I doubt very much that the grief will be held against you.
