"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Ugh, I had 90 minutes of broken sleep last night and am now at work making a bazillion unnecessary (to the point of uselessness) design changes to an 84 page document a co-worker left for me before fleeing to the safty of vacation today. May summer warmth bring a bumper crop of chiggers to her vacation spot.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OH THANK GOODNESS:

[My Job] will close our offices at 3pm today so that you can all get an early start on the long weekend. Enjoy!

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

The lions catch a buffalo calf, which falls into the water. Then two crocodiles try to steal the calf away from the lions, and a tug-of-war ensues. The lions manage to get the calf away from the crocs.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I know we won't be breaking early because I have training until 4:30. And then PT nearby at 5:30.

Yeah, I wanted to come to work, but not all that badly. Still, getting out of bed this morning ended a 23 out of 24 hour stint (my mattress is good, but it's not that good--I'm guessing the Japanese weren't diligent lollygaggers). Getting into work has made me realise that what I really wanted to do was move into the lounge in my living room. I'm such an overachiever.

hmmph my company used to do that regularly but it's a crapshoot now. I really hope they do close early because 95 will be a bitch driving home and I could really use a couple of extra free hours this weekend.

My younger brother just decided to fly up from NC to DE for less than a day in order to celebrate our older brother's 40th b'day. It's still a question whether or not he'll actually get to see older brother because the party Sunday isn't scheduled until after NC brother's flight back to NC. (There were super cheap tix evidently but the last flight was at 5 pm.) Sweet gesture though. But stressing me out a bit!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I love this company. The Global Chief Communications Officer just dropped by to personally make sure everyone got the message that she wants us to close up shop at noon instead of three. And if your workload won't allow, to make sure we all know she wants us to take that half day some other time.

Moved from F2F:

Books, I have books! A book on condo buying, and some slashy sci fi, and some regular sci fi, and a new copy of Lost in the Grooves 'cause I gave mine away. Also plus, Hard Core Logo dvd to replace my aging video tape. Whoot! I have made a sizeable dent in my save-for-later shopping cart and felt the need to share.

And ha! Somebody already stopped by my desk to check out Grooves.

Now THAT's sweet.

Seriously. That's a new one on me all right.
