"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

And it's be risky to try and break fights up without knowing how to fight yourself--so it's not taught straight out of the gate.

Yeah, I know. That's the thing, though, even if I knew how to fight, I don't think I could do it in the context of breaking up a fight. It would involve hitting students, which I think is generally frowned on. Heh. I think I can only go into that situation with the option of getting hurt myself.

But I have no doubt that I'll need to do it, again and again, so it seems that I would be well advised to get some sort of training.

Thrive to spite them

I had my picture taken next AB at DCon, he's tall! I'd say he's around the same height as my brother who is 6'3".

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

DH swears they were eye-to-eye when he was on the Serenity set.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Adam Baldwin quoted here (http://www.celebheights.com/s/Adam-Baldwin-268.html)

US Actor from Full Metal Jacket and more recently Firefly and Serenity. Said in 2004 xpose magazine, "I'm 6'4. David Boreananz is a big guy too, maybe 6'1". I am 230 pounds so he's probably 200, 210. He's a formidable presence so it's not like I can dominate him. Plus, they put the camera angles lower so it makes him look bigger."

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

DB is also not as tall as I'd been assuming.

He is, unless they've been boxing him this whole time. JAR and AD are tall. He's of a height with them. He's taller than AA, who's around my height.

even if I knew how to fight, I don't think I could do it in the context of breaking up a fight.

Some of the skills you learn in learning how to fight would serve you in breaking one up, and can't really be taught effectively in isolation.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I also saw Adam Baldwin at DragonCon, and unless he was wearing some serious KISS boots, there's no way he's 5'7''.

The trial I was a juror on is done. It's fairly depressing subject matter, so does anyone mind if I post about it?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

No. I'd be curious, in fact.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm always fascinated by juries and etc.

The one time I've donated platelets so far, they got almost enough for three people out of me, plus "beautiful plasma," according to the phlebotomist working there!

Yay! I, OTOH, am just willing to do it. Or was. For a while I figured the willingness was enough, but eh. I'm awesome at whole blood -- quick, easy, feel fine. Platelets, NSM.

See, this makes sense to me, but I'm still worried about the learning to fight bit, what with the pacifism and all. I think I could do it, but I don't know how I'd do with the dredging up aggression bits of learning to fight. That is to say, I'd do fine with aggression. I have plenty of pent-up aggression. But I think training on it'd probably end up contrary to my pacifism. But then, my belief in pacifism, like my belief in anarchism, is only idealistic.

I should just study. I'd like it.

eta: Dana, definitely talk about it. It's fine.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Go for it, Dana.

The idea of Homeland Security being run like the NYPD under Guliani makes me want to run screaming to Canada.

GHOULiani, you mean? I like to imagine him in presidential debates, stuttering, "No you shut up! No you shut up! Who is the boss here?!" Hint: it is impossible to act like an Airedale terrier and look presidential at the same time.
