I have given up on dry cleaning stuff. I just refuse to buy it if it's dry clean only. Which means that if someone gives me dry clean clothes, I always forget and wash them anyway. (I always use cold water normally, unless there's a good reason not to.) Sometimes I ruin them, but you'd be surprised at how often I don't.
The last good dry cleaner I had was in Indianapolis. I still have some hangers from them, though. They gave good hangers.
Of course, I can do this, because my job requires me to hang out with teenagers, which can best be done in black t-shirts and black cargo pants.
Even if we did used to call them "ratburgers." There's no better drunk food in the world, at least if you grew up in Jersey.
Huh. I grew up in Jersey, and our usual late-night food was diner stuff. My usual choice was pancakes, but other people got burgers. I think the closest White Castle was in Paterson, though, and we wouldn't have even considered going there at night.
Well, at the rate I'm getting bigger, I'll need a whole new wardrobe, and I guess I could start from scratch.
Except, that's even more expensive than dry cleaning what I have, so I should look into not getting much bigger.

One night after rehearsal we hit the Jack-in-the-Box drive-thru, sometime around 1:00 am. We ordered "rat strips" and the drive-thru employee didn't even react, just asked what kind of sauce.
I wash all my dry-clean pants. Stuff more structured, like a suitcoat, I'll break and take it to the dry-cleaners. Or just not wear it much at all.
Does anyone remember a video on MTV back around '84 or so, for a song called "Rats on a Budget" or somesuch? The video featured a burger place that sold "rat burgers," which appeared to be actual rats. IIRC they were flat, like roadkill.
I can't iron my dry clean pants, so it's dry clean or don't wear. I very very much prefer wearing lined pants to work, so I don't like the option of not wearing.
I'd rather go to the dry cleaner's than do laundry. Though not for $19, I'll tell you that.
I just made a blood donation appointment, and now I really don't understand why they call me CONSTANTLY. I could see my appointment history, and I haven't given blood in a year, and over the past few years, I've cancelled as many appointments as I've kept. And I'm their best customer? Ugh.
I broke down and got a full sized ironing board. So no more laundering of shirts. If they'd ever do them for 99¢, maybe. But there's either an excuse, or the shirts come back with the buttons cracked.
My current quandary is this lovely Indian skirt that says hand wash except the pattern on it runs awfully. It's a beige skirt with bright colours just above the hem. Am I supposed to wash it separately from itself? I already washed it in delicates with magical Woolite whatever. Now I just look at it sadly.
