You know what I have for lunch? Homemade black bean soup (with bacon!) and fresh raspberries and blackberries.

It's not lunchtime yet. I find this vexing.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

The other thing with eggs, as a single person, is I find it hard to eat as many eggs as would be needed to go through a dozen-- so I just tend to do without-- and they are harder to stretch-- although I have seen a scrambled egg/spaghetti combo.

It takes eggs a really long time to go bad, though. I eat one a week at best, and the dozen is fine.

Did I mention I have irrational "food going bad" issues....

Omelets! Broccoli cheese omelets for the win. Or hard-boiled eggs for a quick breakfast. Also, they often sell a half-dozen at the grocery store.

I have to slaughter recipes in order to make a true single serving. If I don't, I end up having to eat the same thing for a week.

Ann, that's a ferret.

I can't help but think, "Um, dude, have you never had to grocery shop on a budget before?"

There are budgets and budgets. But I doubt most lawmakers have had to shop for groceries on limited budgets since student days, if ever.

msbelle, has mac seen a doctor? It sounds like he's sick, even if I don't have a clue of what it may be.

I know. I guess I just can't fathom being so well off that I wouldn't understand how little actual food you can get on $3 a day.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I went to my BFF's for dinner last night, and they made spaghetti carbonara and homemade chocolate cake with buttercream. MMMMMMMMMMMMMM

The sad thing is, if you're talking a one-week experiment you could be pretty full on meals of Ramen noodle soup and Uncle Ben's plain rice for $3 a day. Of course as a long-term lifestyle choice that's decidedly unhealthy.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Yeah, if I had to eat that long term, I'm sure I'd end up killing myself, which is rather unhealthy.

When I was a poor college student I ate a lot of potatoes - they can be prepared a bunch of different ways.
