It's so odd to hear fernet mentionedfrequently now because for the past 10 years, no one had any idea what I was talking about whenever I mentioned it. We used to sip it with tonic water as an after dinner/post drinking thing. It may have been a slightly different version of what's mentioned here, but still.

My Irish bar has the Czech Fernet (Fernet-Stock), along with Fernet-Branca (which is what we drink). Same base, different top notes.
Let me guess, the second lesson is also Fernet.
