So, last night on my way home, some of the local kids were singing "Baby Got Back" on the sidewalk, and I wondered: how do they even know that song? Do they think of it as an "oldie"? Because seriously, it came out well before they were born.
Their parents play it?
"Yeah, my parents are totally lame, but some of their music is OK..."
I'm noticing that a lot of "kids" today cite the 80s among their favourite music. I figure there are three main interpretations: a) 80s music is that good b) The 80s're so long ago they've gone through uncool right back to cool c) Huh. I could've sworn there were three.
Anyway. Early 90s music might be tagging along with that.
Okay. I called a local flower shop, and they'll be delivering blue iris and red tulips to my mother on Saturday.
Oooh, thanks for the tip, shrift. I have to call and order for my mom and MiL today.
(Don't mind my current fashion obsession here...)
I'm guessing that full slips (never worn any kind of slip, full or half, underneath clothes) are somewhat out of vogue and seem grandmotherly (the "Well, my mother shops at..." comment from the Macy's clerk made me feel dreadfully old), but I always think of this when I think of slips, and not much is hotter than that.
Well, I guess I'd need to see Salma Hayek in one to be sure.
A quick read of that link made me wonder how Teflon and Butterfield 8 were connected.
Oooh, thanks for the tip, shrift.
You're welcome! It was on my agenda for this morning.
Man, '80s is retro already? Depeche Mode and
The Breakfast Club
were formative for me, so I guess it's cool if my uncool has become cool again. More people to get my cultural references!
Some store, maybe Target, used Baby Got Back to sell backpacks for school but changed the lyrics so they were about back packs.
Maybe that's where they heard the song.
