You two carried me through that war. Now I need you to carry me just a little bit further. If you can.

I wish I knew why my commute home was so fucked up. Major intersection closed by police in a 3 block radius. It's a bad neighborhood and a terrible intersection, so who knows?!

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

There were always attempts at my libraries to set things up - but they kept trying to use hospital codes

My library, when I worked there, had red silken tags at each desk. If you were in trouble, you were to pick up the tag and start waving it around as you talked. Upon which moment, if your interlocutor had not already asked, "Why the hell are you waving a red flag at me?" would presumably be tackled by a gaggle of middle-aged matrons and one elderly janitor. Plus a very nice highschool boy who had no sense, and, uh, me. As a communication system, line-of-sight was a grand idea; as a defense system, ollie-ollie all-come is not all that useful, I think.

I have no secret thoughts about The Secret. Except to say that if I wished death and destruction upon mine enemy, and mine enemy wished same on me, who would win? The one with the bigger brainpan? The one who could stay away wishing longest? What if I need to stop wishing for a minute to pee? Surely the universe understands pee breaks.

About fire -- ugh. Mass. is under fire warning all this week, as our winter was so dry. Which is weird, because it seemed like it rained all of April.

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

Apparently this fire is the result of arson, so Jesse gets her wish.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Fire is scary.

Hey aurelia, did you know there's a jellyfish called Aurelia aurelia?

I did not know that. I should've used that for my lj name.

OK, it was the bad neighborhood reason: [link]

Lovely.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I wonder how they got the animals out of the zoo? Like, how do you evacuate bats?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Apparently this fire is the result of arson, so Jesse gets her wish.

There, see? I put it out into the world, and presto!

Or whatever.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Bet that's how that dog got the last sweet potato.

They evac'd the zoo?! Yikes. The bats were probably mostly sleeping.

You home now, Allyson?

Back when my dad lived out there, there was a fire in Griffith Park and all these morons apparently parked on the road leading up to the Observatory to watch, blocking the firefighting vehicles' access. So they brought in a bulldozer and shoved the cars down the hill. Something like that.
