Trust my rage

I think she just meant to convey that they feel the weight of responsibility.

This is appropriate, I think. But it sounded to me like she was saying, even giving her the benefit of the doubt, "but we've suffered too!" which is basically bullshit. I don't think it's appropriate to talk about how much suffering the problem has caused you when you created the problem yourself.

I think she just meant to convey that they feel the weight of responsibility.

I do think that this is what she meant, but I see little evidence that Bush feels the weight of responsibility. He's been the most powerful man in the world for years now, and he still can't be bothered to learn the most basic things necessary to do his job well. He's ignorant and self-absorbed and seems to be untouched by real events in the world, including the massive suffering caused by his ignorance and self-absorption. If he were paying attention at any meaningful level we would expect to see some evidence that he is learning--or at least trying to learn.

information libertarian

I am doing online chat reference this afternoon and every single person I have talked to has been a spammer (with questions about penis size, etc.). Ye gods the multitudes, they are unwashed. Thank god for all you people.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I was coming here to say "Did she actually say this", but I see from Cindy's post that she did. Because I have a a co-worker whose son's head was *split open* up the back by a bomb. Laura has suffered more than them? I gave birth to a baby without my husband (among a million other things that year)...pretty minor in the scheme of things, but has Laura suffered through that?

Stephanie, the White House should be flooded with these stories. I don't think they have any idea how much weight they really should be carrying.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Okay, this is hilarious:

British Airways has removed a shot of Virgin Atlantic boss Sir Richard Branson from the in-flight version of the James Bond movie Casino Royale.

Sir Richard was seen briefly in the original film, passing through an airport security scanner, but can only be seen from behind in the new edit.

"Many films are edited in some way on board," said a BA spokesman.

Sir Richard was given a cameo after supplying a plane for use in the film.

The British Airways edit also obscures the tail fin of a Virgin plane that was seen in the original.

BA's entertainment team vets films and television shows for flights on grounds of taste and suitability.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I will happily wear short skirts if they cover the ass.

I need skirts that are long enough so that I don't show the world my underpants when I'm getting on and off the bus.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, I'm pretty sure she hasn't suffered as much as the mom I held, weeping, telling me her son had been killed. If she has, I feel really, really bad for her.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I think we should spread the word that Fallujah is the most happening new Spring Break nightlife spot this year. Then when Jenna and Barbara hit the dunes looking to party she can suffer as much as all the other people worried about their loved ones' safety overseas.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Chicago real-time bus tracking: [link] I'm pretty sure Chicago is the first/only city to have this. Right now it's a single bus line, but within a year or so you'll be able to track every CTA bus.

You can track buses on a map in real time, or select a stop and get a list of the next four or five buses, with arrival times for each. Some bus stops have LCD displays that show the arrival times of the next few buses.

I've wanted this literally for more than ten years. Great for when it's cold and/or raining and the bus you want only comes once every 20 minutes....

Bus location information originates from CTA’s real-time Automatic Vehicle Location system on the #20 Madison route. Buses on this route have been installed with communications equipment that sends vehicle location information to the CTA’s Control Center. A computer processes the information about the current location of a bus and its travel patterns and then generates predictions about when the bus will arrive at a stop.

#20 Madison buses send information to a computer every 15 seconds via the radio system on-board each bus. Arrival times on the website are updated every minute. Arrival times to the bus stop message sign are updated approximately every 30 seconds.

It looks like the map updates every 15-30 seconds.

eta: Of course, you can get the info on a web-enabled cellphone or PDA....

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

So I'm carrying on my bag for the first time since the new restrictions. I can have a quart-sized bag with anything I can fit inside, as long as each container is under 3 oz., right?
