I had a strange career talk with a student instructor today. She's worried that a job opportunity that will take her from her stressful partner-track job and give her more free time to teach both krav and at a community college in addition to a $20K raise is a career dead end.

Those shoes are fucking gold-plated latinum. Still, she's tense about what to do if she gets the offer. I wish her all the opportunity for decision anguish in the world.

I need to know if my friend B had a 9 to 5 when he started krav, and if krav had an influence in him becoming a freelancer. It's a gig that welcomes people with flexible schedules, like students or personal trainer or actor if you're not trying to make it too big.

And then there are those of us that make our job decisions with krav in mind--how much can I train? How much can I teach?

Heh. I need new kitchen towels (why am I blanking--is that what they're called, those handtowels for the kitchen?) and I now have to go look for Hello Kitty ones.

I call them dish towels.

I got that for a while in the Cardiac Care Unit, though the nurses would look at me and say, "Oh, no, he's back again?"

I think it is good to be known at the hospital - if you have to be there a lot it is easier if they know who you are.
