We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. You know why? Because we are so very pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Yeah, we've been watching on the local news. They don't seem *too* freaked, all things considered.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OMG you guys, our whole internet was down all day at work -- no email, no nothing. Ugh! And all the bosses were gone, so we all spent a lot of time standing around chatting. I did get a decent amount of work done, but still. Finally, my boss called in and said we could go at 4. So we did! The end.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Johnson Space Center update from CNN: one hostage dead, one released unharmed, shooter suicided. Good god.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I'm on three different breaking news e-mail lists, and yet I get the news first here 80 percent of the time.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I only knew about because my sister called me from the road and said she heard about it on the radio and wanted more info, so I turned on CNN. Her boyfriend is a VA Tech alumnus, and they've both been very upset over this. My sister's girls are at UVA, and that's... just way too close, somehow.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

So what are people doing this weekend?

Tech. I have to go in super early tomorrow because the building closed at 4pm today (WTF?) and I still have to get power to my dimmer packs and focus the lights.

So what are people doing this weekend?

House concert (yay)

grumbling about local egroup that doesn't want me publishing info about the house concerts on the egroup , though we have been for over a year (boo)

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Good heavens. What is wrong with the world? (eta: If I didn't get news from the Buffistas, I'd never know anything was going on.)

This weekend, I am doing more absolutely nothing. I got up today and tried to work around the house in preparation for having classes tomorrow, but it was a rank failure, so I've canceled tomorrow's classes.

But there's still the memorial service, so I have to decide if I'm healthy enough for that or not. I'm thinking not, but mostly because I don't want to be a huge freaking distraction by horking up a lung during the worship music or something. Blargh.

Otherwise, I'm spending my whole weekend watching my parents' flight status as they progress from Kona to Indiana. Although I just saw it change from not departed to in flight, which will likely be the only excitement for the next five hours.

When flying huge long distances (edit: Atlanta, not NY, to J'burg, S.A. & back) I grew to hate the flight tracker. Look! We're still over a huge expanse of blue! 4 hours later OMG, has it moved at all!

Much better for continental flights, I think.

I've got a haircut appointment tomorrow. That's all that's official. Hey, anyone know a better technique than a roll of paper towels to clean a huge expanse of mildly filthy windows? Cloth towels are too linty and newspaper leaves more film.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I've always found newspaper to be the best, sarameg. But I haven't actually cleaned a window in years - I've heard that the new soy-based inks made the wondowcleaning not so effective.

There's always squeegees.
