Me getting to work by 9:30 counts as an accomplishment.
I aim for 9:15, and generally hit it. My boss is still out sick today -- yikes! She hasn't been in the office since last Wednesday.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Could someone please make it feel okay to call in sick for a whole day and lose that pay?
Can you afford it? Do you think you'll feel better tomorrow if you get extra rest today? I can't change how you feel (sorry), but those are the key questions.
It's a big day for Emaryn. She has been homeschooled (somewhat a matter of debate), but today she is trying out the local public school for a half-day. The school is very accommodating. I'm hoping it goes well for her.
I hope you get better soon ita, whether you go into work or not. Would they be agreeable to a short day today with some extra time later?
What should make the decision easy is that I feel like ten kinds of fresh hell right now, and really don't want to stand up much less go anywhere.
I will make the bargain with myself that I'll go in to work tomorrow anyway.
I shoulda bought more OJ.
Okay, emailing in infirm, and back to sleep.

If I do any time at all, it counts as a full day. But I don't feel up to that, which means the decision had made itself, I guess.
I wish you lots of healing.
If you'll stay home and do all the right things, ita, then stay home and push fluids, take zinc, vitamin C, use a neti pot -- whatever works for you -- and get some rest. It will help, and all of those things I find impossible to do at work.
Also, I hate working with people who should have stayed home, so I'm biased.
Good luck, Emaryn!

Ah, the joys of full time accounting. I hope you curl up with your juice and sleep and feel much better.
A bit of satire written after 9/11 that also applies to the Virgina Tech shootings:
Why the Bombings Mean That We Must Support My Politics
Of course the World Trade Center bombings are a uniquely tragic event, and it is vital that we never lose sight of the human tragedy involved. However, we must also consider if this is not also a lesson to us all; a lesson that my political views are correct. Although what is done can never be undone, the fact remains that if the world were organised according to my political views, this tragedy would never have happened.
Many people will use this terrible tragedy as an excuse to put through a political agenda other than my own. This tawdry abuse of human suffering for political gain sickens me to the core of my being. Those people who have different political views from me ought to be ashamed of themselves for thinking of cheap partisan point-scoring at a time like this. In any case, what this tragedy really shows us is that, so far from putting into practice political views other than my own, it is precisely my political agenda which ought to be advanced.
