Well, from the police report it sounds like they weren't able to get ahold of the parents.
The kindergarten tantrum felon's name is Desre'e. I wonder if she freaked out after an introduction to punctuation.

Tea. On. My. Monitor.
I just don't get it. A kindergarten teacher -- and the school administration -- are supposed to be early childhood experts. And they believe that the best way to resolve a five-year-old's tantrum is to have big strange men chase her into a corner, cart her off in handcuffs, and take her to a police station?!
Yeah, I don't think that a child's tantrum should qualify under zero tolerance. If she shivved the teacher, sure.

Really. Reading the police report just made me angrier. It's written like she's some criminal. She was likely scared to death when the cops showed up. Then they dragged her out from underneath the table where she was hiding. The poor little thing kept putting her foot in the cruiser door, trying to keep them from shutting her in. Oh my word, what must have been going through her little mind. She's two months younger than Christopher. I want to smack every adult that dealt with that poor little girl.
Yeah, what Cindy said. That is just horrible.
It's all this "zero-tolerance" bullshit. Like, when kids get expelled for taking aspirin to school.
It also makes me wonder how much subtle racism was involved, because I'm sorry, but I cannot see any of my children or their schoolmates being treated like that, and I've seen kids who have held onto the railing and refused to enter the school. I've seen kids cry and act up (and heard more stories of same), but in every case, the school managed to calm the child down enough. I don't even think it would cross their minds to call a cop about a child that age, unless the child was pointing a gun at them.
It's ridiculous.
So this morning, my commute took forever because of several traffic lights which apparently don't like getting wet, and this fire [link]
I pass these rowhouses every day, and this is one of the maybe 4 that is nicely kept up on the block (most are boarded up, even as a community center is being build 4 units down.) It's sad.
