Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

The disturbing noises have become less disturbing. I don't know. There's a lot of dust being kicked up, so I'm hiding in the bedroom with the door closed.

Years ago, my parents hired some (hot!) illegal Irish guys to redo their kitchen, including putting in bigger windows. At one point, the guy who was cutting a hole in the side of the house looked at my father and said, "Wow, we don't have tools like this back home!" Somehow it all worked out OK.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm going to start dropping by Jess's apartment unexpectedly, carrying laundry. (Around dinner time, naturally)

I accept your offer to cook us dinner in exchange for free laundry. Thanks!

Words my mother did not want to hear when having their septic tank pumped: Oh shit!

(It turned out the truck cracked the driveway slab, so it wasn't that bad. But traumatic enough for my mom that this last time, she made my dad stay home to supervise while she was off in town.)

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I should say I can't live without the cell (one car + one child + two adults = coordination hell), and that the dishwasher and washer/dryer are also much loved, used, and needed.

God's own comfort food. Aside from mashed potatoes.

I've been watching the new Doctor Who during my treadmill time. So I decide to go to TWoP to read some snarky recaps of what I have watched, and the hell? What is up with the Doctor Who recaps, I want snark not analysis of the underlying themes and .... can't think of the word for it... some sort of psuedo-poetic musings. At least the House recaps are classic TWoP.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I just remembered one of the really PIA things about line-drying: our part of town had mulberry trees. And grackles.

I also grew up with purple grackle poop. My mom didn't get a dryer until after we were both out of diapers (in the pre-disposable era). Sometimes she reminds us of this. Eventually, that conversation gets around to her ironing her brothers' Army uniforms during WWII.
