The South? Dudes. SEC Football. The one true conference.
Pallets on the floor, over the vents to keep cool. Skinny dipping. Dogs on the front porch. Dogs under the front porch. Dirt roads. One room churches. Whiskey based home remedies. Double wides. Old country music. Daddies. Hoop skirts. Fried freaking everything. High school football games. Ginormous belt buckles. Using everybody's first and middle names. Going to town. Piggly Wigglys and Big Stars. Well water.
I'm not sure it's my
favorite
thing, but what I find endlessly facinating is the sort of schizoid Southern Pride bit, boasting plantations, civil war reenactments and the confederate flag, while wanting to shove slavery and horrible civil rights violations under the rug. It's really twisted.
I would say I've never been to the South, but I did just spend four days in Virginia, so I guess that counts....Sort of.
I've mostly never been out of it. I've certainly never lived anywhere else.
OH MY GOD, COULD MY HUSBAND SNORE ANY LOUDER!?!?
I CAN HEAR HIM FROM OVER HERE...
24: This season is weird. That is all.
I gave up on it two episodes ago, and, given my completist tendencies, that is really saying something.
See, I agree this season has been wack (though I missed a big chunk of it early on because of HEROES and not having DVR at the time), but I'm still enjoying it. I think I gave up on there being remotely any plausibility season one with Terri's amensia in any case. Also,
Audrey is SO the new Spawn, which, EWWWWW!!! if you think about it too much.
Did I mention I finally got DVR? DVR ROCKS!! Just in time for my week and a half road trip when my shows coming back (just need to make sure I free up enough space).
Oh my gosh, FrankenB -- you've joined the 21st century! Now do you realize what the rest of us have been saying you'd enjoy?
Did I mention I finally got DVR? DVR ROCKS!!
My DVR is what made me realize I needed to stop watching 24. It was always the last thing I chose to watch and I finally realized I just didn't care what happened.
Scott and I are two episodes behind and somewhere along in the season, we missed one or two, because we just didn't have the energy to watch it. I don't think we've gotten to where it's gotten notably bad yet. I just didn't have it in me to watch. It's such a tense show.

I don't think it is bad or weird so much as tired.
I CAN HEAR HIM FROM OVER HERE...
I wouldn't doubt it, though he seems to have quieted down now. Jeez. He was scaring Oz.
I have never seen an episode of 24.
